I see Witcher is at $2.49 and Witcher 2 at $7.49 right now - the latter being on a daily.

I was gonna pickup both of these on xmas cash, so if I miss the daily, does anybody know how likely when / if it might come around again at that price? - or will it be a LOOONG wait (like next christmas)?

(obviously if witcher 1 is on generic seasonal discount, thats not so much of a problem!).

Thanks in advance!

It might be this price again on Steam during the holiday sale. Steam keys for The Witcher games can be activated on GOG.
Awesome! - That I didn't realise. Well, I presume it also activates all those lovely bonus materials too then?!

That gives me a good chance of getting the second installment within a reasonable time limit (spring sale on steam even I suppose) after I'll have gone through the first.

With a tight budget its good to know these things - thanks GoJays!

Edit: You've pretty much solved my dilemma! - Or made it less dillemmerous!

TW2 was $7.49 for 2 days during the Autumn sale less than a month ago, while TW1 was $2.49.

All you have to do is activate the key from Steam here: http://www.gog.com/witcher2/backup which works for both The Witcher games.
i heard its a bit complicated to get the witcher cd key from steam

My understanding is you have to download and install the games then you can get the CD Keys. So you would have to re-download them again here after registering for DRM free copies.

I got it during the Summer sale and the CD key is linked on the game page in my library just like other games with CD keys.

Did you have the game installed for the keys to show up though? When I read before about getting your keys for games that had them, it said you had to have the game installed for the key to show up.

If you don't, thats good as it can save people from downloading a game twice if they are going to activate the key elsewhere.

Nope. Didn't have to download. Key showed up instantly.

It's quite simple, honestly. Go to: http://www.thewitcher.com/backup/

If you cannot get your steam key, or it doesn't work (like what I experienced), simply email the tech support team on the email address provided on that page. Give them any and all information you can- your steam ID, email address associated with the steam account, your email address associated with GOG, and they will research it.

I dealt with their GOG's support to redeem my steam copy on GOG. They were outstanding! I simply had to provide them the information above, and within 72 hours, I had an email in the steam related email address with my new Witcher CD key. The new key worked, and now I have a backup on GOG :)
