Is Advent Rising in some way similar or to Outcast?

Itlodeo: Is Advent Rising in some way similar or to Outcast?

I don't believe they share anything apart from being sci-fi and including third person combat. AR seems to be a straightforward level-based action game with some Jedi/biotic powers thrown in for good measure.

anoffday: I have Pyschonauts on steam. And I'm not really interested in the bloodraynes. I am sort of interested in advent rising, though. To the people who have it, how is it? And someone said it was flawed? How so?

I think the only major flaw the game has is that the two planned sequels were never made. As a result, when you finish the game you are left with a feeling of just having read a third of a story, and having no way of getting your hands on the rest of it.
Other than that, I think the game is excellent. I had a blast playing through it. If you liked Mass Effect, you'll like Advent Rising. They are VERY similar. Advent Rising is somewhat shorter, simpler and more linear, but the games feel very much alike. To me, at least.

Nice deal! I already have Psychonauts but I'm happy to buy the other three at half price.
Goddammit, I already bought almost all games before.

To my surprise, Bloodrayne is actually not that bad
The Bad:
- poor animations
- cut scenes feel very unpolished even for a 2002 game
- combat can get repetitive
- some fiddly controls
The Good:
- combat is actually quite nice
- the graphics aren't that bad although there should have been a contrast option because the graphics look washed out
- smooth as hell and no compatibility issues at all
- controls are nice & simple yet allow for quite a lot
- enough diversions to keep the game interested so far
I never played it much in the past because there were a lot more A-list games around back then but these days, with great games being rather rare, maybe it's time to give these "good but not great" games a go as well.
Sweet offer - just picked these up plus Civ:CTP2 and C3 :)

michaelleung: Uwe Boll should write a retrospective on GOG.

Aliasalpha: "What I did on my summer vacation: Or 10 ways to fuck up a sure thing"

I should write a letter to Uwe Boll asking him when he intends to make a good movie. Or ask if if he's ever genuinely, actually watched one of his own films and thought it would do well.
