The game is already on Steam... just thought I'd say.

That's good. Hopefully we'll also get the Cadaver games.

The game is available for PRE-ORDER on Steam, for 10% off. That means it is going to be the same price here at launch.
Is it just me or does it look a bit sluggish compared to how I remember it on the Amiga?

Anyway, instant buy when it gets on GOG for sure.

AND this one will be DRM-free.
Winning I killed my amiga cd32 pad playing that game!!
The original on the Amiga was fantastic.

That really doesn't do much for me.

Robette: This may sound kinda flat, but this game is good why...?
It's a very solid and fast-paced shmup with quite a few very original ideas, some of which are much cooler when taking the game's age into account. For one it's designed as a coop game and when playing single player there's a surprisingly clever AI controlled partner, there's six different characters to choose from, all of whom have several attributes and IIRC even unlockable special attacks (yup, like a poor man's RPG). Plus the music is friggin' insane. And the level design is pretty awesome, IMHO, with lots of triggers and secret areas and stuff.

I wasn't a very big fan of the game in the 90's but I gave the Amiga version another try this year and my mind was actually blown a little. A very welcome addition to the GOG catalogue for me.

I was never able to actually get the demo for this working on my pc, but I loved bitmap brothers games.

Is this the kind of game that I will have to play through in one go or does it have a save system or can I quit the game and come back later and start from the beginning of the last level I got up to or something along those lines?

I only know how the Amiga version handled this and that one actually had a password system. You'd have to beat a few levels in a row, when you reached the next world or something you received a password which would allow you to start from that world. That one would be generated by the game and also store character information IIRC. I can imagine that they've replaced the passwords with a saving system in this new version (well, it seems to be a new port or something, I've observed a few differences in the video). Assuming that they haven't changed that you still have to beat quite a portion of the game in one session before reaching the next world but you certainly don't have to beat the whole game in one session.

I never beat the game, btw, but it seems to be fairly long for a game of that kind and age and it certainly is pretty darn hard.

Well, yeah, but for many users here that's one of the selling points of gawg.

Cool, thanks. I remember now that Gods had a similar password system. I didn't get very far in Gods when I was a kid but beat it last year. Maybe with age (and the ability to watch others on youtube) we are better at these kind of games.

I assume that they would have a save system now.

Its going to take a lot of my willpower to not buy this game...
I have heard about this game before, but have never played it, thus I have no nostalgic feeling. So, I am likely among the very rare few people here who wish for a HD graphic remake. Also, I do not like checkpoints much, and would rather have proper save game anytime anywhere system, even when I understand checkpoints system here is actually an improvement over the original. I guess I'll think about it first.
