How many of you are loyal to particular brand?
I personally am not very loyal. I buy pepsi when it is a buck per liter, I buy Coke when it is buck per liter. And when neither is that cheap i buy juice.
and that goes for everything else, clothes, music, games.
there are brands which I prefer more and trust them more than others. Like Nike shoes. I tend to buy that particular brand cause one of my best shoes were from them.
but i wouldn't have any problem with buying different ones if i found they are a better deal.

And no, I'm not brand loyal. I take a zen approach* to most products/companies (unless they do something that ****es me off). I buy only what I like. I base none of my decisions on prior performance/products (except when I may lose money in the event of an unknown).
* I refer you to "The Real Miracle" in the book 101 Zen Stories, a part of Zen Flesh, Zen Bones. As that sums it up precisely =)

No brand loyalty here. I follow the best deal when I'm going to buy something. There are caveats, of course. The 'best' deal does not always strictly involve the dollar cost.
I do, though, practice brand 'avoidance'. Burn me badly ehough, and I won't consider buying any of your products again.

I find myself unwillingly practicing brand loyalty every now and then. It has never gotten to the point where i will buy anything with that brand name on it, but I do find myself following certain companies with passion.
For instance, the Silent Hill series was one that I was extremely loyal to, right up until the point they released Origins I just couldn't get enough of the games. Now after the release of Homecoming, I share much the same sentiment as Yahtzee: The series is over. I do however have SH 1-4 on my computer and still very much enjoy those.
Likewise I used to be a big id fanboy, however their recent games have disappointed me somewhat and now I only keep a casual eye on what they are up to. Here's hoping DooM 4 rocks!
Nowadays I don't seem to have any particular company or series to follow with any sort of passionate devotion. CD Projekt is probably the only thing coming close right now, I loved The Witcher, and GOG is just too great for words. Bring on The Witcher 2.

I will pay a small premium for GOG products because of the spectacular service, and I like being able to see the games in my collection. If I wasn't a starving college kid with ridiculous medical bills, I would buy GOG before anything else because I want to encourage the stellar business model that they run (I think they ACTUALLY think first about what we want, because they know that if we are happy we will buy more) and I find it the easiest way to buy and manage my games, and the more I buy from them the more resources they have to get new games.
GOG games carry extra value that comes with the site and service, so they are worth a little more money, even practically thinking. But I don't think it's ridiculous to take a little hit to support a great company. I guess I'm a fanboy :D

No brand loyalty here. For anything I buy I take into account the full products being offered, the prices they're being offered at, then figure out which product provides the best feature set for the money I'll be paying. Company reputation still factors in heavily, as this speaks towards things like reliability and quality of service if something goes wrong with the product, but I don't consider that a matter of loyalty, just another aspect of the product feature set.

Like for example MGS4? :) I remember eurogamer giving it 8/10 I believe. Fans of series without even seeing the game in action were very vocal on how this review was unfair and author should be burnt alive and fed to the dogs.

I'd say it depends very much on the type of product. When we're talking about food and drink, I buy what I like. I could care less who made it. I'm a Coke man myself (to use your example), but I could care less about the brand, I only care about the taste.
Other products, like dishwashing soap, toilet paper and other things along that line, I pretty much go by price alone.
If we're talking hardware, I do have a fondness for Asus hardware. Graphics-wise, I'm NVidia all the way.
I, like Coelocanth, also have particular brands I avoid. Game-wise, that comes down to EA and LucasArts.
I've never bought a particular product because of advertising, but I have stayed away from particular ones because of it.

Not brand loyalty at all: I don't care if I drink coke or pepsi, if my graphic card is Nvidia or Ati, if my sneakers are reebock or adidas, etc. Also, I don't have xbox360 nor PS3.

I only buy pepsi if I can't find a cheaper brand in stock (that still tastes good, I have it slightly tougher as I only drink diet versions, if I don't actually NEED to raise my blood glucose level, in which case the taste/price/type of drink comes as a distant second/third/fourth in terms of importance), and coke only if neither of the previous two are available.
I have preferred AMD over Intel so far, as they have "proved" to have more power for the same money, though for the next upgrade I'm not sure anymore. I've had different graphics cards for every upgrade; 3Dfx Voodoo 3 3500, Nvidia GeForce 2 400 (I think), ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, Nvidia GeForce 6800, and lastly I got a GeForce 7950 on warranty when the 6800 broke... so not much loyalty there either.
And well, I like the Mac, and the iPod, and I liked the Newton when it was new (and I still think its handwriting recognition is better than anything on the market today), I prefer iTunes over Windows Media Player or WinAmp, but I wouldn't say that's because they're Apple branded, as I don't like the iPhone - I don't need an iPod with a phone function and a web browser, as I already have a portable media player (yes, the iPod), instead I chose to get a Windows Mobile based phone because it's more like a computer and thus more like what I want/need.
So, no I'm not loyal to any brand, I chose what I - after resarch - decide is the best product for what I need, also weighing in price for functionality so a slightly worse product may get the pick because it's got a way lower price.

With computer related stuff I buy after finding out what is best for the money at that time, and by best I mean how powerful and reliable it is.
With software it's very much the same, though there I also unfortunately have to take compatibility into consideration, which can be a bitch with a lot of stuff. I'd prefer using Linux, but that is not a choice when it comes to high compatibility, but I still find use for it actually, so I tend to dual/triple-boot with a couple of Linux distro's and Windows at times. Right now I've got Vista 32Bit, Ubuntu and Mint installed, though I haven't actually booted into any of the Linux distro's since I installed them.

Well, i mostly use Google for my web searches, but mostly because there isnt much of any competition there nowadays. : D . Theres GOG too, of course, im loyal to their no DRM motto. : ) But on anything else, i dont have much loyalty to any specific brand.

I only practice brand avoidance. Piss me off, and my money is going right to your biggest competitor. For the rest of my life.

Yeah, there are some I like more than most, based on my tastes but if chosen brand starts making crap I'll go for another one, looking for better options.
