Have you ever bought a game that you've decided to uninstall before completing due to the gameplay itself - not due to technical problems. If so, why (too hard, dull, over-the-top gore etc) and how long did it take for you to decide that the game wasn't your "thing"?

Three games spring to mind for me;

1) POP Warrior Within - stupid checkpoints spread out just beyond my reach.
2) Psychonauts - was I really controlling the character or is someone doing it remotely?
3) Duke Nukem Manhattan Project - at first I laughed, then I chuckled, then I smiled <continue this until...> finally I felt like weeping at everything within the game

Finally, despite these 3, I have bought a fair number of games on GOG ranging from RPG's to FPS Horrors and have loved every moment of each.
I felt this way about Darksiders II. I tried to love it, then I tried to like it, then I tried to keep playing it for the sake of completion, then I finally uninstalled it.

It's not that it's a bad game, it just.... lacks somehow.
Manhattan Project is one of my favorite games of all time. Odd.

If anything fits the topic it's Total Annihilation only more so because I didn't get it here but on disc and paid $30 for it.
I'm still somewhat trying to get into it but I've been playing Red Dead Redemption on and off for months. It has so many glowing reviews and loads of people tried to get me to play it, but I just can't get absorbed by the game at all.

Maybe it's because the setting isn't one which interests me, I'm not sure. I just get really bored after 30 minutes and do something else.
As of now I can only think of two games that fit the bill.

1) Fatal Racing

This was a long time ago. The only thing I remember was that I installed it, tried it for a few minutes, was really dissapointed and then uninstalled it.

2) Star Wars: Episode 1 The Phantom Menace

The controls felt very clunky and the game just had this low quality feeling to it. It has been such a long time since I last played it that I don't really remember anything else about it.

Edit: Just remembered another one.

3) Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

I have tried to get into this game so many times. I can usually get my character to about level 12 or something before I get too annoyed by the leveling system and the game in general. The game feels like it is about quantity instead of quality. Sure there is this big world that you can explore but most dungeons or ruins are so similar that they become white noise.

GTA4. The PC port is horrible and it just isn't as good a game as 3, Vice City and San Andreas are.
I have this problem with the elder scrolls games. I start, play, enjoy, then just get bored and uninstall. Is something wrong with me or do they just get old very quick?

This game? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BweotHZBYlg

I actually enjoyed it, although I think I got stuck in a few places and had to use the internet for help. But I'm sure it had its problems.
Giants: Citizen Kabuto

I don't get why this game is so revered by quite a few folks around these parts. Constant, shitty low-brow humor... and once the strategy part kicks in. Ugh! No, thanks.
Bought the Deep Silver humble bundle, and was playing Dead Island. Might be a decent multi-player game, but the single-player is...dull.

Wait until the racing part kicks in. Then you'll have fond memories of the strategy segment. ^^

That was fun! Thank you. :)
Clive Barker's Undying. It started out well, and then the werewolves. The never... ending... werewolves. They teased me with a boss fight with the albino woman, but that just led to more werewolves, and I'm stuck at a deadend.
