ZPavelZ: May be that Rayman Forever is not available on GOG?
avatar
Darkenmal: It is though.

the gog version of rayman 1 is not as nice as the ps1 version. I was a little disappointed when i found out but i got used to it.

MonstaMunch: Rayman Forever - usually it's a matter of opinion, in this case it's not.
Nope the best is Rayman 2. Rayman Forever doesn't even come close, buster.

Rayman Forever is more similar to Rayman Origins though

Rayman 2 definitely. Rayman 1 is good but as other people have said, it's hard and it's inferior to the Playstation One version.

Origins is definitely the best though, it's an absolute corker of a game, especially multiplayer.

Hmmm..

I may just have to get both. :P

They're both good and different enough to be enjoyable. Rayman 2 still has that magic Rayman feel but Origins will have you grinning inanely at every new discovery on a level or every new level style but once you've seen the little dude humping the test tube at the end of the level you cannot un-see it O_O. Origins is one of the most beautifully done 2D platformers I have played. Also poor Origins did terribly despite wowing the critics (Ubisoft's fault.) I'd love to see more fresh games like that.

Rayman Forever is simply a hard game, it always has been. The only noticeable difference I can see between the gog version and the PS1 version (which I grew up with) is the soundtrack, and there is already a very easy fix for that to get the original music listed on the relevant forum page. Apart from that and having to mess around for a few minutes getting dosbox to play it at the right speed, I haven't found anything about it to be dissappointed by.

Also, in the interests of full disclosure, I'm biased as rayman 2 makes me sick so I can't play it..... >.<
Ok, is Rayman 3 any good?

Darkenmal: Ok, is Rayman 3 any good?
Yes, it's definitely good, but it loses something from Rayman 2, in my opinion. They tried to make it a tongue-in-cheek joke about the previous games, and it really didn't need that.

I much prefer 2.
I've got the first two, and I'd have to say I like 2 better, sidescrollers are alright, but like most of them, Rayman 1 is tough stuff. Either I haven't tried, or it's just that hard, but I'm probably only around the second level at the moment.

So its worth the checkout?

I've said this before and I'll say it again: Rayman Forever is one of very few games where it's acceptable to use certain cheats. I've been playing the game since it first got released, I love it as much as I could ever love a game, but I couldn't possibly complete it without the 99 lives cheat, and I don't know anyone who can.

The reason it's ok to use it, is that it doesn't actually make the game easy by any standards. It just makes it possible.

Also bare in mind that the GOG version seems to run by default at around two or three times the original and intended speed. Check out some gameplay vids of the original, and adjust your dosbox cpu cycle accordingly.

Holy crap, while writing this I just noticed Steam is now letting me download the full Rayman Origins. The wait is over!!!!

If you like 3D platformers then yes, but get Rayman 2 first.
Rayman 2 for me as well. Only played 1-3.
Are the PC versions of 1 and 2 any good?
I own Origins and 3 (Both amazing games) on the Xbox 360 and since those 2 aren't on it am wondering
Yes, they're very good, though 1 is ultra hard in places (I have no hope of beating it without cheating) and 2's control scheme may take some getting used to.

They're both on GOG as well.
