I'm not sure if there has been a topic like this recently, but I thought I would start one just because I'm curious.
So what is everyone's favorite game that you have played this year? It doesn't have to be a new release, it can be 15 years old for all I care!
For me, personally, it would have to be Stronghold: Crusader. I played this game all summer long and never got bored with it. I found it to be a great distraction from my studies that I could sit down and play an hour or so whenever I had time. There's something so satisfying about ransacking another player's castle, a feeling that no other game quite captures as well as this one.
In second place, I would have to say Plants vs Zombies. That game just reeks of humor and charm!
Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age: Origins...
Batman: Arkham Asylum or Freespace (either of them).

acare84: Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age: Origins...

don't forget Dragon Age: Origins
Hmm, I'd have to say Gratuitous Space Battles.
Batman or Dragon Age, im sort of torn. Batman to me has better gameplay, but Dragon Age has better story/dialogue etc. BOTH in their respective categories.
I am inclined to agree with Aliasalpha and acare84, though I am a slow player and have not seen much of it yet.
The Xbox demo of batman was a disappointment after everyone seemed to raise the game to the skies. But then, I cannot play such games on console, I need my keyboard and mouse for decent movement.
This year ? Definitely Mass Effect.
Torchlight.
But I haven't played DA:O yet. Saving for christmas.
Dragon Age: Origins is close but Batman: Arkham Asylum is pure win.
Mirror's Edge.

bansama: Mirror's Edge.

I'm inclined to agree
Dragon Age, with Batman as a runner-up.
And honorable mentions include Beyond Good & Evil and Second Sight. Yeah, I really should have played those sooner, but I am lazy :p. Both had better stories (and storytelling) but less than stellar gameplay.
Lost Odyssey probably.
Dead Space
