Now that I've got a PS3 that will hopefully not break down on me, I'd just like to say that Batman: Arkham Asylum is awesome. The boss battles I've been in so far have come off as surprising (especially if you haven't been paying attention to the videos Eidos has been releasing every five seconds) and well-played. A certain character who strikes fear, much like Batman does, has some really cool boss fights associated with him. Also, the Joker is done perfectly, with the right blend of toying and going after Batman. Since many of you enjoy PC versions, I'd say it's worth the wait, as the game is amazing.
sounds awesome.
i might get it.
I played the PC demo on Steam and I have to say, what little of it there is was quite impressive. The thing that impressed me the most was probably the fact that my aging, low-end machine was actually able to run the game in the first place. It was also great to hear Kevin Conroy voicing Batman, Mark Hamill voicing the Joker and Arleen Sorkin voicing Harley Quinn again. I really miss their days on the old Batman and Justice League cartoons.
So what form do the boss fights take? Hit the one vulnerable spot, straight up depletion of health or something different?
The demo was OK, I'll probably buy the PC version.
I'm going for the PC version. It's going to be $100 cheaper anyway.

It's mostly been find out what you can do to him to get his guard down, then attack while vulnerable. However, two of the boss battles I've had have used a particular villain's strengths to abstract the fights. Those fights were pretty cool, and involve a bit of sneaking around.

I'm told there is some sort of fancy vision thing that lets you see hints and stuff. Is this true, and does this detract from the experience in any way?

It doesn't as long as you mainly use it to get a feel of where the guards are and then turn it off. It's just not as fun to see Batman kicking skeletal systems, though you can switch it on and off anytime in the game, even when Batman's in the middle of an animation.
Also, it lets you track people from their specific scent or fingerprints, and clues you in on what you can interact with. It'll also let you see some clues left by Riddler that you normally wouldn't be able to see.

Well the boss battles were my last concern since we didn't get one in the demo, sounds like pretty much all my issues (save the one of my being too poor to buy it) have been addressed so its back on the 'buy' list
The game looks really good, no doubts there.
But I think I will wait a little before playing it, this games has received SO many promotion videos, talking about it since SO long and SO many times...
I don't like the brainwashing method they used to sell the game...
Now I'm just tired to hear from that game.

i'll get this game eventually, not a first day buy, i'll wait for the price to drop in the upcoming months
Well, I ordered a copy for my PS3 off Amazon and it just shipped today. So... yeah, I'm looking forward to it. Coherent thoughts on the game when I have them. :)

I avoided all that quite easily. Every time I heard there was a new trailer, I went "Really? That's nice." I then proceeded to play other things so I wouldn't think about it.
I'd say this is one hell of a game, and quite possibly Game of the Year for me. I hope people enjoy it and that Rocksteady uses this momentum to create more amazing games.
I haven't made my mind up about it yet ,but Amazon.com is offering a prequel comic book for pre-orders. Tempting...
