They REALLY don't want Australians having fun do they?
I can't help but imagine the OFLC in a big heavy lifter mech suit saying "Get away from FUN you BITCH!"
This game was a given that it was going to be banned in Australia, I mean the predator rips peoples heads off with spines attached as trophy kills. Looks like you will have to hope they rework it for Australia or just import it.

You could either attempt to get it gifted over Steam when released (and hope Valve have dropped their IP blocking antics by then) or see if it'll turn up on GamersGate.com/co.uk where region restrictions may not actually be enforced.
Personally, I'm going to wait and see if it turns up on GamersGate as SEGA games on there tend to sold without region restrictions.
I'm sorry.
Here's to hoping Atkinson gets ousted from power sometime soon.

Atkinson, not the OFLC. You can't fault the OFLC for having to work with an incomplete ratings system.
It's spreading beyond games in South Australia here: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/12/03/2760837.htm.
We're not allowed to have any fun.

Wow if you want to watch something like Gladiator or Saving private ryan you need to go into the back room as if you were buying a dirty porno. Is there no one in power in Australia that opposes these insane laws?
Well Adelaide is also known as the city of churches, this may explain a lot

True but when you can chainsaw people in half in Gears of War 2 and that gets an MA, it shows they can rate it as they see fit or at least bend the rules enough to let stuff in when it should be rated R and thus refused

No one with any real power sadly. There's a number of smaller parties that would oppose this, if they get enough votes together they may be able to challenge it with some degree.

Yeah. Yet, most are quite empty. Religious Demographics show us to have a higher than average number of people with no religious links.
Just got back from Melbourne, Australia last week.
In Malaysia, censorship is far worse and pointless.
Let's say a movie was classified as for above 18.
They would still censored nude scenes, vulgarities and so on.
Quite pointless to have that classification to begin with.
However, violence is still a-ok, no matter how old the audience are.

It's not a matter of power, per say. The rest of the Attorney Generals are for an R18+ rating. It's ONE man stopping it... Whoever thought unanimous voting was a good idea needs to be thrown in a lion's den, where their fate is decided by 7 people who need an unanimous vote. One of them being a crazed fanatic out for blood.

Isn't it lovely that there's no seperation of church and state? Politics and religion on their own are dangerous things.. At the hip, well.. How can I put this eloquently.. You're fucked.
I was looking forward to AvP... Imports here I come! If I meet the system requirements.

As always, South Park hits the nail on the head "Remember what the MPAA says; Horrific, Deplorable violence is okay, as long as people don't say any naughty words!"

Ooh ohh ohh! Can I be the crazed fanatic? I even do a good diabolical laugh
The sad thing is this isn't even a religious thing, its the single person imposing his values on everyone else in spite of their rights. I can see where it can get might get confused with religion...

You most certainly can be the crazed fanatic. I'll bring popcorn, beverages, and cough drops for the dry throat caused by too much diabolical laughter.
As far as Atkinson goes, I don't know. He has been labelled as having a conservative Christian stance on matters, in what is reportedly a very conservative and religious seat. But that's just what I've read, and haven't really looked into.
Though my comment about religion and state wasn't purely aimed at Atkinson, but towards the fact even though the populace may not be overly religious, we still get the odd fanatic in the seat of power. Local, state or federal.

Well to quote warhammer 40K "Only the insane have strength enough to prosper, only those who prosper truly judge what is sane"

Huh... I've never heard that quote, and it damn well rings a lot of truth. It's somewhat sad though, what would that make Regular Joe?
