Hello all,
For the past few years I've got a game stuck in my head and I can't figure out how it was called. So I'm hoping the collective knowledge of gog can help me out on this...
It's of course an old game; old as in: I've played this game more than 12-15 years ago on a 486DX, and it fitted entirely on 1.44 MB floppy disk.
The game itself was a 2D platform game where the player controlled a yellow(?) robot which had to put barrels of nuclear waste into their designated places around the level.
Also noteworthy: The robot couldn't jump, but it could reach higher ground by means of lifting itself by some sort of hydraulic system that lifted its torso up from its 'feet', so the robot could then grab hold of the higher platform and finally lift its feet and continue on the higher ground... and if I remember correctly this same method was also used if the robot needed to go down again or to 'jump' over a hole in the ground.
Also, there weren't any 'enemies' you had to avoid or kill, so it was just you as the little robot, and some barrels you had to put back into their place.
Oh and one last thing I can remember is that for each level you completed you got a code which you could enter to skip the levels you already solved. The codes you got were all city names from around the world... I think one of them was Detroit and another was Bangkok, but again, it's really vague and from a long time ago so I'm not too sure about those.
So if anyone knows the title for this game, you know what to do!
Many thanks!
oh, and I'll gift you a game of your choice from the catalog of gog, if you are the first person who can correctly name the game I'm looking for!
[update]:
Here is some more info for the game:
- I played it in 1994, so the release date was most certainly before that. But I honestly can't give a minimum date... If I had to make an educated guess, I would say the release date was in 1989 and probably later.
- The game used more than 4 colors, so I think it had better graphics than CGA (probably it had standard VGA graphics)
- The OS I ran it on was MS Dos 6.22
And here is the list of (wrong) guesses so far:
- Wall-E
- The Incredible Crash Dummies
- quadralien
- Robot Junior
- Soul of a Robot
- Andrew the Droid
- Super Solvers series
- Floyd The Droid
- Adventures of Robbo
- Meltdown
- Robot Odyssey
- Mr. Robot and his Robot Factory
- Deactivators
- Thexder
- In search of Dr. Riptide
- Roboman
- Toxic Crisis
- Super James Pond or its other title, James Pond 2 Robocod
