Here's a plug for my forum game, the world in which he exists.

This is an interactive story. I will post one part of the story, and offer you a series of options. The first poster to respond will have their choice obeyed. Then, I will post more and offer another option, and the first poster to respond will have their choice obeyed. And so on. Do I have too much time on my hands? Apparently.

Captain had been a member of the Legion for two short weeks. He was tasked with one assignment, and one assignment only: guard the Pearl of Ba'grith.

The guild coordinator, Truz, had warned him sternly, "Should I ever come for the gem, you had best have it ready. We are providing you with a generous stipend, and this is your only task. I shall accept no excuses. You will watch it with your life."

Captain had enthusiastically accepted this role, telling Truz that he would prove himself a reliable and responsible guild member. He had hoped that this menial task would lead to bigger and better opportunities for service in the future.

Yet, here he was, intoxicated on the finest wine of the East, looking at the bookshelf where once he hid the Pearl of Ba'Grith. He nearly pulled the whiskers from out of his face, wracking his brain a single clue that could lead to it's disappearance.

"What kind of idiot hides a valuable in plain sight? On a bookshelf! Oh my, I am not fit for my job," he thought. "What will become of me?" he wondered.

He held back a tear and rose to his feet, still wobbly from the effects of the wine. He glanced around the room, and resolved to find the Pearl before Truz returned to ask for it.

Where should Captain look?

1. The dresser.
2. His closet.
3. His empty wine bottles.

Holy Choose Your Own Adventure Batman! (funny enough, the other thread ended with the protagonist dying from alcohol poisoning)

Yeah, let's hope it doesn't end up the same for good old Captain.

He recalled the previous night. He remembered polishing off a bottle of cheap Vasar junk. He remembered handling the Pearl while he was drinking. Could it be that he accidentally dropped it in the bottle? It had a wide opening, and it just might fit!

He frantically raced to the corner of the room, where a series of old wine bottles lined the floor. He reached for the one he had been drinking that night and picked it up to reveal.... nothing.

There was a sip left in the bottle, so he turned it back and consumed it. "Why not?" he thought, "I'm in trouble as it is, might as well enjoy myself."

A fly bit him on the hand.

"Ow!" he exclaimed, "It's never a good sign when your empty bottles start to gather flies," he thought.

1. Search the dresser
2. Search the closet
3. Move into the hallway

The way he was going, it would not have been a surprise it seems.

Captain thought back upon the previous night once more. He remembered he had consumed half of the bottle of Vasar wine before he placed the Pearl back on his bookshelf. He sat down to drink some more, and then he went to his dresser.

"Why did I go there?" he thought, struggling to remember.

He rushed over, threw open the drawers to the dresser and began to search. He found a pair of worn out gloves. Suddenly it came back to him: he had gone to the dresser to take his gloves out.

"But why?" he thought. "It was not cold in here last night. No need for a man to wear his gloves indoors, is there?"

1. Search the closet.
2. Move into the hallway.
3. Check under the bed.

The plot thickens, in contrast to the shrinking amount of furniture left to examine.
Next up - under the bed, and quite appropriately, I'm off to bed (get in here interactive-fiction-fanatics, and get in on the fun!)

Captain searched under the bed. Seconds later, he recoiled in disgust, "Rat droppings! UGH!"

1. Search the closet.
2. Move into the hallway.
Well that was a bad idea.

Captain searched his closet, looking for the Pearl, but finding only an old spear.

He thought back on the events of the previous night,

"Yes, after I got the gloves from the dresser, I went to the closet and grabbed this rusty spear. But why? Ohhhh my head hurts! I think I've checked everywhere in here, so it must not be in this room. Where could it be?"

1. Move out into the hallway (go right towards the dining hall)
2. Move out into the hallway (go left towards the basement stairs)
Go towards the basement stairs!
