Ya, ya - its already discussed lot of times, in lot of places, by lot of people. But there is nothing wrong to refresh opinions, right?

On dark side - paid dlcs rob community. Some of them has ridicuosly high prices for amount of content (do you remember horses?). Some of them lock important stuff behind paywall (when you need to pay for modding tools, for example). And yeah - obviosly, there is also cancer of modern gamindustry - DAY 1 DLCS.
But, on bright side - paid dlcs increase lifetime of game's official support. Devs are humans too and need to eat, drink and do other important things, which isnt free in our capitalistic world. Adding paid content after time will refill pockets of developers a bit, so - they will be able to continue their work on post-release improvements.

Overall - what do you think about paid dlcs? Is it good thing or bad? Are they salvation of modern gamindustry, or cancer, that slowly kills it?

Yea...
I think they should just include everything in one package if possible.
But I understand if they make an expansion of the same size of the base game (I would make it standalone, but I can still understand)... we are still talking about an optional part of the game.

You forgot to put Gold and Complete there somewhere.

Yes.
Paid DLCs are just that, paid DLCs. Whether the content is worth paying for or not is entirely up to you.

Some people may want to have customization option for their characters that are not limited to what the base game has, other will not even care about the base game's customization options. An armor/hair/clothing DLC will be desirable for the first group, while the second group will be ignoring it, unless they complain that they don't have the "full" package, even if it's something they will never ever use. Similar thing with game soundtracks. Some people really wish to have them as a stand alone, others don't really care.
In both cases, having the extras for free is preferable, but that may mean that the base game is priced higher (since instead of paying the musician a bigger cut for the soundtrack sales, they pay him up front for any of the game's sales).

So my advice as a collector is to buy whatever you feel is worth buying and ignore whatever you feel is not worth buying. Same as with games really.
As JMich summed up: like anything else, hey can be good and they can be bad. I've no issue with DLC,since I'm the one that decides whether it's worth it or not.
If the DLC is like a proper expansion pack from the good old days, it's ok. If it's some cosmetic crap then it's ridiculous, but it's no loss for me, and if someone wants to throw their money away- power to them. If it's something of actual substance that should be in the base game (game modes, day one additional maps etc) then it's bullshit from satan's own satanic herd and no one should buy it becuase it only perpetuates the culture of releasing intentionally crippled games. Simple as that.

As with most things there are as good as they are bad.

I try to avoid the obvious made for nickel & diming cashgrabs; beside my dislike for that practice they usually have an, at best, mediocre quality.

The big, expansion pack like, ones I usually get for the games I currently play.

People should more picky with what they spend money on, even if its just a few bucks. Would rise over all quality IMO.

But in the end: Nobody is (or should be ;) ) forced to buy or not buy what game/DLC/XPack he/she likes/dislikes.

And that's all there is to say about the topic. DLC aren't inherently good or bad.
If I like the base game, I will generally pay for additional gameplay content, new units, new scenarios etc.
What I will not pay for are New Skins ,individual items I will probably never use, and other cosmetic crap that does not really add to the game play.
Not a fan in general, but it always depends on the content/price i guess. it mainly makes me wait for GOTY (or whatever) editions for a decent price.

But the Witcher 3 and PoE expansions could be called DLC and they are fine i think.
The only other ones i ever bought separately were the Burial at Sea episodes for Bioshock Infinite and i didnt regret that either

But selling tons of random crap (Borderlands 2 and Tomb Raider are the ones were i noticed it for example) is just silly in my opinion. Or those consumables you could buy for the last Deus Ex... or the extra guns for Mass Effect Andromeda... and so on.
... they shouldnt advertise them in game at least :P

I always get sick, if Im in love with game, already bought all expansion packs, but then they've made dlc with just skins and now you feel uself, like you dont own full game anymore
