Aberran: Spent two days of my free time to play this game should test more games I buy when I just get them. Lesson learned. Not sure the point of GOG.com if not to make old games work on modern hardware. I can play it in an emulator but that greatly reduces my computers capabilities.
Maybe just time to stop spending money on games.
The gamecard says the Shogo game is officially supported only on Windows XP, Vista and 7.
The implies it has issues on Windows 8 or newer so yeah if you are trying to play it on Windows 10 or 11, you probably need to apply some fixes manually, unless you are lucky.
That's PC gaming for you, it needs a bit of tinkering especially if you are trying to run 20 years old games on it, and GOG can't necessarily do anything especially since "Windows" is a moving target where updates from Microsoft can break compatibility.
If you want to avoid that, consoles like Nintendo Switch or PS5 are the answer, but then you can't play Shogo on them I guess.
If you are willing to try to get the game work:
1. Read
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Shogo:_Mobile_Armor_Division
That is, go to pcgamingwiki.com and search for Shogo.
2. I'd try dgVoodoo2 (maybe it is mentioned in the PC Gaming Wiki article, I didn't check it).
3. Like someone suggested, sometimes it may be actually easier to get some legacy Windows games to run on Linux, than on modern Windows. Then again if you are not thinking of installing and using Linux, this doesn't help you, but hey Linux is free and you will feel very badass while using it, like you are some computer wizard rebel or something. I know I do!
