I'm playing my GOG library mostly on two devices: an old EeePC netbook (WinXP) and 2015's Chuwi VI8 tablet (Atom Z 3735F, Win10).

Last month I left my tablet on the shelf for a couple of weeks and during that time its Win10 OS was updated on schedule to notorious Creators Update (1703). And then last week I took it to my new work to play during breaks (I'm working at night and sometimes my duties are over by the middle of shift, so I have a perfect opportunity and a lot of time to play some classic TBSies and other favourite games on my workplace while waiting for the morning).

But, to my disappointment, I've stumbed upon very irritating graphical artefact that I've never experienced before and now it recurs in most, if not any game installed on my tablet (I've tried Warlords Battlecry 1-3, HoMM 1-4, Seven Kingdoms 1-2, Age of Wonders 1-2, Battle Realms, Arcanum, Fallout Tactics, Cossacks, Dungeon Keeper 1-2, Disciples 1-2 among others).: after the launching of the game, a portion of screen (about 1/3-1/5 of its size, I guess it depends on the game's native resolution) on the right side of it is still displaying Win10's desktop (in some older games, like first HoMM, this portion is covered in black). I can interact with game elements placed in that "transparent" area (like clicking on Exit button in HoMM 3 and Warlords Battlecry 1) but I simply cannot see them.

But, suprisingly, introductory movie of Cossacks still runs in full screen without that artifact (but the game still has it). And when I was trying various graphic modes in configuration app of Master of Orion 2, I managed to launch that game without that artifact with OpelGL mode enabled.

Also, if I try to launch any game in portrait mode of tablet, any Windows game is crashing instantly ("unsupported graphic mode" or another similar technical message will appear) and any Dosbox game is running normally (but in portrait mode, of course) without aforementioned screen problem, yet Dosbox launcher will crash after exit. Screen lock option simply can't help.

The artefact appears no matter if I run game from Galaxy or from game's directory/shortcut on desktop. Anyone else experiencing the same problem? Is there any way to fix it?

(And no, taking my netbook to my work is not an option, sadly :D.)

Did CU really just get rolled out? Been using it since last month and I haven't had any additional problems (except the same old shit show with scaling I've had since XP). Check drivers and update them, I've heard that upgrading builds sometimes uninstalls drivers and installs generic shit ones and sometimes older gpu ones

From your list I play arcanum, fo:t and homm3 with homm3hd patch

Yep, it's 1703 build on my tablet right now and I've just checked drivers (Intel HD Graphics) - it's up-to-date, to be precise, the version from 2015.
Last month I finally found the solution. It works not only for Heroes 3, but for many old Windows games as well.

Extract the archive in the game's folder and then you may enjoy HoMM3 on your Windows 10 tablet.
Tablets? i googled for win 10 using a normal screen starting from old crt to current screens cause win 10 has to be used someday ( will keep old setup ofcourse) and then on a new pc , seems compat. is not as good as win7 has....

98% of all my GOG games i have and other old stuff ( minus 16 bits cause the OS =64 bits) run a charm: minus red alert classic dune classic and all other good ea classic games...
that why i was looking to find a way to run a emulated or portable iso of a 32 bits windows to run all my old games ( EA)
cause i cant wait till forever waiting for EA to release the old classic red alert, cnc, dune, dune 2000 etc et cetc
and since i paid for the retails i want to play them.

Anyway if there is a topic here that shows an easy way ( no virtual machine setups and sandboxes cause thats to complicated) but a simple way to run my good old retailgames again, i tried searching but that doesnt work too well....
with win 7 old games worked when it was released and now they still do, windoze 10 has far too many updates, too much spyware, and i read Mickeysoft is now working with a B team , seems the A team left years ago :D, things dind turn out for the better with that new chief .....
