With other sales and in my case this Supergiant sale:
https://www.gog.com/promo/20190822_promo_launch_supergiant_anniversary
https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/983/Supergiant_Collection/

Its a small percentage and the difference in Pyre is just 1€ (which probably im going to buy here), but why the difference in price? Pyre without discount is 19,99 on Gog and 16,79 on steam. Is the Publisher decision, taxes or Regional pricing?
On The banner saga is the same difference, when buying the complete saga I ended buying it on steam because there it was at 16€ and here 21€. Is not that much but the games are in the end the same.

By the way, i think they should make discounts in bundles for the games you own. Its a nice feature.

What do you think?
Because buying something costs more than renting it.

Why do you compare the non-discount price with Steam?
The actual price now is €5,99
Edit: ah - I see...the price on Steam (also on sale) is €5,03

Edit 2: in this case I agree with tinyE: it's a small plus to pay to actual own a game.

Edit 3: after putting some more thought into this, I came to this conclusion:

If I remember right, in the early days of GOG, when the "one world - one price" policy was still active (before we got local currencies), and we all could only pay in US$, I always had to pay some cents extra (the "Paypal-fees").

The exact amount of these fees could only be guessed - it was never exactly what my currency converter would give out.

Nowadays, when I buy on GOG, I pay exactly the price that is shown on the game's page in Euro - not a cent more.

So, I assume the plus that we have to pay in comparison to Steam, is this "hidden" Paypal-fees?

Yes and if you skip a payment the sheriff's department come in and repossess everything including foreclosure on the house

It's complicated. Sometimes regional pricing matrixes differ somewhat and you need to take the base (US) price into account for an accurate comparison. Then there's what's basically a DRM-free fee that some publishers add, charging more for not having the game tied down to a client and a service's DRM. Then you have those giving first priority for updating to Steam, and that includes price updates, so you may have price drops there which weren't applied here (or elsewhere), yet or ever. And there are also some who say that since they have lower sales on GOG, there's some overhead needed to maintain the GOG version and that gets split between fewer buyers, so they charge each extra for it.

What BreOl72 said has nothing to do with it, as this is about the store's price while that was about the exchange rates charged by a payment processor of choice when the account currency and the one used by the store differed.

does steam still have that in built web browser if so i wont use it, might look into uplay see what games they offer, GOG is awesome but they need to stop adding these random titles and get games like dynasty warriors, old pro evo soccer for example

I assume you mean Galaxy is awesome then? I've had Steam since 2006 and I can probably count on my hands how often I've used the ingame overlay browser in the last 5 or so years. Or do you mean the browsing in the client itself?
when u enter big picture mode theres a webbrowser, if i could disable it somehow id use steam aswell as GOG for my games

Have you read any of the EULAs on GOG games? You're renting a lifetime license here too.

Yep, you're renting everything in life; in the end you lose it all.

You don't anything if it's digital. It's all the same concept, i'm afraid.
