R8V9F5A2: My guess is that there's some licensing issues at play, so I'm probably answering my own question, but am I the only one here who thought these games were fun ?
Sachys: Nope. Love some of them myself and a load of people on here would likely enjoy Planet Alcatraz (among others). I think its just GOG's "curation" that might be holding things back - lets face it - PA has a terrible english dub and needs some messing around with the files to get the russian audio and english subs to work together (least on the steam version).
Personally though, I'd still like to see more of their games here - and one or two good uns from Buka games as well (Man of Prey / Marauder in particular!).
...and thanks for reminding me I only recently got Parkan II - must go give it a whirl
Yes the voice-acting in Planet Alcatraz was not that good, but as a whole the game felt unique...in a good way.
I really enjoyed the gameplay and the way it told its story.
Thanks for the
Man of Prey / Marauder tip, that looks really good as well.
nightcraw1er.488: I do apologise, where can I buy them DRM free and download them without client requirement?
Sachys: Gamersgate has a few if I remember correctly. Fireflower perhaps as well.
SilaGames has them as well. They use the same one-time activation system as GamersGate.

Grargar: The following are DRM-free:
+ [url=http://fireflowergames.com/shop/a-i-m-2/]A.I.M. 2 Planet Alcatraz The Tomorrow War Theatre of War XIII Century Parkan 2 was featured in an older bundle DRM-free (and is also available on GamersGate, but you might not like the site) and the retail versions of the Necrovision games don't require Steam (but use disc-based SecuROM).
No I'm not a big fan of GamersGate and the one-time activation system, I tolerate that system sparingly.
SilaGames have the same system.

Have you tried Fireflower ? Do you know whether they have a one-time activation system or a plain download ?
