Hello people.

I noticed the change in the library today. What happened to the GOG downloader links?

If I click on a game icon and then 'more' -> 'gog downloader links', I see an incomplete list of items. I can only download the installer, not the other bin files. See the example attached.

I don't want to use GOG Galaxy, I prefer to download the games via the the fantastic old GOG downloader. Are we now forced to choose between HTTP or Galaxy, or is this just an error?

we'll eventually be forced to, yes. GOG said they don't want to maintain 2 clients so they'll stop supporting the downloader. It's not supposed to go out of comission yet, but it will, so better to get used to the idea.

Have a closer look at your screenshot ;) You can download the installer (at the top) and all bonuses combined (bottom). Rest is empty because there are no DLC, patches or language packs.

But I agree that this list looks a bit crappy...

Oh. I thought that was the exact opposite of what they said. So we WILL be forced to use the GOG galaxy client?

Nope, it's not mandatory because you can still use http downloading. But you won't be able to use their downloader. And their APIs are supposed to be made open, so you might want to use someone else's unofficial client instead of Galaxy.

Yes, that's right. However, the problem was that clicking on the installer would download only the executable, not the other .bin files needed for installation.

Nevertheless, whatever the problem was, it is working now. The link now donwloads everything. Bug solved! Thanks for the comments!
Unfortunately, the gog downloader links just take me to a blank screen, so sounds like I am pretty much out of luck. Maybe 5 years down the road I'll get Windows 7 and will be able to use Galaxy. It's ashame everything was working fine until they changed up the webpages

Am extremely disappointed. I know they stopped uploading it but it was a good convenient tool. No need to remove the links :(

This thread is almost five years old, my friend. But really, it's not that difficult to download the offline installers directly from the site. Plus, GOG Galaxy 2.0 is a really great experience, despite some bugs, though I can't personally recommend using it to actually download your games right now due to a bug I'm working with support to try to fix. As for the reason they took it down, there are a plethora of issues that could be introduced by them leaving it to disrepair so that's probably why they removed it, especially since Galaxy 2.0 is on the fast track to release.

No problem, it's easy to do and I've done it many times on other forums haha. I understand the frustration but you can still directly download the games via the offline installer feature so it's not too big of a loss for those who don't want to use any kind of platform!

Very true yes.
THe thing I liked the most was it created the name of the directory, I tend to keep different versions of the offline installers on external backup media so it is easy to get the name wrong when you download the update. Again just a little nuisance.

The REALLY important thing is we can download the offline installers ourselves still. :)
