What games (on GOG) do you feel are underrated and / or forgotten?
-The Long Journey Home (absolute blast. just because game is hard, it got bad ratings.)

-Cultist Simulator (more people should play this game! it is a very special game)

-Railway Empire (excellent chu-chu game, bad ratings)

-Phantom Doctrine (better then X-COM 1,2 and the future 3 and 4, etc... yet bad rating)

-Stronghold Crusader 2 (not sure wtf is wrong with people, this game is excellent!)

*Games available on GOG.

I'm sorry but do thoughts on this subject stay static? I'm constantly learning about games I'd put on a list like this. And it's been just under 6 mos. Not like this is coming up every few weeks.

I think a game that isn't great but is good... and was derailed by people who wanted / expected turn-based X-Com gameplay...

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified

While having issues, it is a good companion to the squad-based tactical FPS games like Brothers in Arms.

Sorry for always giving the same answer, but: Forgotten Realms Unlimited Adventures. ;)

Blades of Avernum is probably as niche as it gets, too - a Spiderweb software RPG editor that's all about user-made campaigns, but I like the idea.

I feel like Enclave is underrated as well, but maybe that's just because I like it and because it's almost given away for free a lot of times (dirt cheap or stuffed in low value bundles, like some kind of shovelware).

I thought Waking Mars was pretty good and original, but it seldom comes up in forum talks.

Fully free in my case.

It was one of the games I played to get back into the gaming habit - something that would work on Intel integrated graphics before I was ready to commit to a proper GPU. The evil campaign appeared to be an afterthought, but the good one was decent enough.

It isn't quite forgotten/neglected. It cropped up in a thread a few days ago. It made enough of an impression on someone that they wanted to rediscover it. (and enough of an impression that someone was able to recognise it in one guess from the vaguest of descriptions)

Same answer or not, you have an extensive knowledge of many different kinds of games and always appreciate your thoughts!

Why not just post again in the old thread? Especially since it was your thread? While it's considered undesirable to necro topics like old release threads, or randomly reply in a long-dead topic to someone who hasn't posted in years, reviving or bumping a useful thread, or one about a topic that's more or less evergreen (like this one), won't usually be taken badly unless you do it in an obnoxious way. Whereas starting a new thread covering the same general topic every few months just leads to people repeating themselves (or ignoring the thread, if they realize that it's "another one on that same topic").
