Solve supernatural mysteries and leave your mark upon vast magical kingdoms.

UPDATE: It's Friday, which means great new additions to our Weekly Sale: we're adding games from Rebellion, including Empire Earth and Ground Control; as well as several greats from Rising Star Games including Deadly Premonition, Marvelous Miss Take, TRI and more!

Time to crank this deal-slinging up to eleven! The Weekly Sale Vol. 11 is firing on all cylinders, aiming straight for a spot in your collection. Its ammo? Dozens of intriguing titles that you might recognize from your wishlist:

Kathy Rain is no stranger to stranger things. But the unusual circumstances surrounding her grandfather's death did manage to creep her out. Still not enough to subdue her inquisitive mind, puzzle-solving skills, and free spirit, however.

Sometimes you don't need upgraded armies and unlimited resources to rule a kingdom, or indeed Seven Kingdoms. You can do just as well with shrewdness and a keen eye for diplomacy, espionage, research, or trade.

As always, there's more – including Anima: Gate of Memories, Capitalism Plus, GoNNER, Kingdom: New Lands, and many other gems!

The Weekly Sale Vol. 11 will last until April 17, 4PM UTC.
It's quite rare that nothing from this sale is on my wishlist. This time it seems to be not my cup of tea.

However there are some interesting titles for sure - if I had more time, I'd definitely try Capitalism, Cultures and Port Royale. And I'm going to try Pilot Brothers trilogy some day, but those games have poor $/h ratio, so for now I'll settle for point&click adventures from my backlog...
How's Kathy Rain? Installing the demo now, but has anyone here played it?

I don't know about T5 but from what I can tell, there's little reason to buy T1 or T3 instead of T4. The latter just has more content with the same formula. I guess if your system can't handle it, get the latest one that it can. Tropico 2 is pirate-themed with different buildings and rules.

I just realized T2 isn't on GOG. Huh, wonder why. I know a lot of people didn't care for it but many people actively loathe Ultima 9 and it's here.

Actually, it is available here. Have a look at the description of Tropico Reloaded:
The pack includes Tropico, the Paradise Island add-on and Tropico 2: Pirate Cove

I merely own the third game so I can't join the discussion but you might want to have a look at some of the threads in the game specific forum:

Such as these:

There's also this post in the release thread for the standard edition of Tropico 5:

Or you could check out some of the reviews by other knowledgeable fans of the series.

I believe there's something about this in the Tropico forums here, but:

T1 if you like it harder and 2D. Also if you like pirates, because it comes with the second one.
T3 if your computer is meh, or you looked up a Youtube video to hear the radio host. Because he's awesome. Not "Bastion's narrator" awesome, but atmospherically he's top notch.

Otherwise just get T4. Avoid 5, I got burnt on that deal IMO.

I'm not thinking about getting all of them it is not my favortie genre, so I just wanted the best one to play sometimes. I was thinking of just getting 4 as you suggest. Thanks for the info!

You're welcome. :)

For what it's worth, I do recommend Tropico 3 though. It's great fun (with a very catchy soundtrack) and simply good value for money.

That's a bad measuring point for adventure games. Adding some pixel hunting, deadly mazes, and dead-ends in the game would certainly make money/time ratio look better, but it would not necessarily mean better gaming experience.

It's kind of same with movies. Adding "deleted scenes" in the movie would make the movie longer, meaning you get more minutes for the same price. But usually there's a very good reason why those scenes got deleted in the first place.

Well, in general you're right. But in this specific case that factor really matters. According to HowLongToBeat.com it takes one hour to complete the PB1 and another one hour for PB2. I used to expect 3-10h of gameplay, when buying games of that genre. I suppose it's not a matter of difficulty here, it's a matter of lack of content.

Oh my! After reading the threads, trying to decide which to buy is like solving an algebraic formula; 4 is like 3, but has more options and very easy, 3 is like 1, but 1 is more balanced and challenging, 2 is the odd one out, but the pirate theme is worth checking out because it is original. And 5 is more mainstream, but boring and missing things from the previous versions.
My head hurts! I was poor at math in school, so I bought 1 - 4. I'll buy 5 when I'm done with the others. I figure I'll play them in this order: 4, 3, 1, 2

Wow. Seriously, or are you just yanking my chain? :)

Tremor games have Pilot Brothers trilogy for about 15cents per game IIRC. The only problem is you need to upload $5 but there are loads of cheap adventure games on there if you don't mind sifting through the rubbish browsing.

Ha, ha... I actually bought 1- 4. I first bought 4, but decided to buy 3 and Reloaded because there was so much debate between 1 - 4. They weren't really expensive, so I bought them. It'll interesting to compare all of them.
