60-80% off Majesty HD, Sacred 2, Hearts of Iron III, Risen, Crusader Kings and more.

Who says games can't teach you a thing? It's not like planning, scheming, and executing massive assaults aren't useful life skills. We use these skills every single day, and we've only learned from the best. This weekend on promo, we're being smart, tactical, and brutally efficient with our Strategy* Selection (*with a touch of action) - 38 games at 60-80% off!

The Hearts of Iron series is easily among the deepest World War II strategy games ever made. A deep simulation runs beneath the map, including hundreds of provinces, governments, heads of state, a sophisticated economy and a near-infinite amount of tactical possibilities. If you're just starting out, we recommend Hearts of Iron III for the most accessible learning curve of the bunch.
The Crusader Kings is a world-famous series known for its one-of-a-kind concept, focusing on building a single, unbreakable dynasty of rulers. A complex network of dukes, counts, and all manner of nobles compete for their place in history books in a web of courtly intrigue and betrayal. Once you've sired a successor, or maybe a dozen, the one worthy of carrying on the legacy will be the last to hear you scream.
Majesty Gold HD alongside the Majesty 2 Collection are a unique, hands-off take on strategy. You're here to focus on the big picture, your people are well and good on their own, thank you very much. If there's a job to be done - you'd better have a good motivator. Money, money tends to work.
For a touch of action, Risen is a robust action-RPG from the developers behind Gothic, and it's a dream come true for the fans. It's a raw and atmospheric world in which every choice has a consequence, and there sure are bad choices to be made out there. Become a swordmaster, a hunter, or a powerful mage and soak in the very particular tone and feel you'll know well from the studio's previous entries.

There's more, of course, including Flatout 2, Europa Universalis, Jagged Alliance 2 in this weekend's Strategy* Selection (*with a touch of action). The promo will last until Tuesday, September 8, 3:59 AM GMT.

Impaler26: Already have most games from this promo on GOG, Steam and DotEmu so i'll pass. Money saved. :D

amrit9037: Which promo is better?
This one or the StratGem one (which had Perimeter, Men of War, Blitzkrieg, etc.) ?
I prefer fantasy themed strategy games so this one is probably slightly better. :D

oh ho!!! A GOG elder told me same thing!
Thank you for reply.
Nice promo for Cities in Motion. I would get the entire collection, but I have it on Steam and DRM-free on GamersGate. I'd like to have it here, but even with the discount, it's still too much just to add it here.
How is Patrician 3 and Port Royal 2? Any good?

Petrell: It belongs to (*with a touch of action) part of the promo.

vicklemos: Action!?
I heard Risen 2 is quite boring and...
kiddin'! :P
Is Risen 2 really that bad?

Absolutely not. One of the coolest games about piracy there is. It's a damn huge game, too. :)

Can you choose your class as in the first game, or can you only be a pirate?

What i'm asking, can you be a pirate mage? Because i find melee combat kind of boring. :P

As far as I remember, you can chose a pre-made character only, so I guess that's a no when it comes to classes system. But there's tons of magic throughout the entire game, so lots to do, on the main quest and sidequests, no worries on that.
I'm not the best guy to talk about the lenghty sword fights so many have panned -and combat system-, because Risen 2 is just not my kind of game, I'm afraid.
Neither was Dragon Quest IX, nor Metal Gear Solid 2, Killer 7, Slitherine wargames, SSI Panzer series, that Sonic rpg for the ds (and so on) and I ended up playing these like a maniac.

So:
1) I have no favorite genre defined, anything goes :)
2) Risen 2 is amazing, it really is! Dialogues are memorable, for the most part. And what a beautiful game this one is.
Gog version is by far superior to the x360 one (drm-free + dlcs bought during the launch promo, unforgettable deal)
3) Go play it! Why are you reading this?! Now! :D
4) Sorry for the long post -and the jokes-; here, this is by far the best description this game has to offer! :)

I managed to find the answer on the wiki.. there's voodoo magic and firearm skills. And you can apparently also use stealth.

I'll give it a shot.

Haven't tried the latter, the former is one of those aimless games that manage to draw you in anyway just to explore what's available. Doesn't manage to take that extra step and become a brilliant game but an interesting distraction.
