Stooner: Someone really pissed them!
Nah, the forum cleaning lady must be on leave or something... Hell I can't click the "report spam" link fast enough.
I think it's at the point where GOG needs to block all new registrations from India. This is getting ridiculous.
it seems this "babaji" character does work some dark magic after all...
Don't let them take over the forum! Spam the other threads!!
Indian spam, eh?

Thank god that is over. Maybe a captcha thingie for new account creation might work?

Wishbone: but an actual telephone number has to be managed by an actual phone company, and they have to know whose number it is.
Not necessarily if it is a prepaid mobile phone. Here in Spain you could buy prepaid numbers without identifying yourself, until a few years ago. I think it was in 2009 when I had to go to a shop to give my personal information, to keep the number. And when this was possible in Spain (a member of the heavily regulated European Union!) a few years ago... Who knows what's possible in India.
And Baba got booted swiftly - again.

gog: House of the flying bansticks ;^)
According to the website, his name is "Miya Hazi". Probably a faked name though, and India doesn't have particularly effective anti-spam legislation.

Oh, I just seemed to remember from the spam that it said it was a UK number. I may be mistaken. And of course, you may be able to buy a number in the UK without giving any information, I don't know.

The number started with +91, which is India, according to google.

Ah. Well that's that plan out the window then.
I can see someone is deleting the new wave of topics etc but i get the feeling that if there is a staffer doing this they disabling the account or blocking the IP might be better to do first, as things are going the spammer is posting new topics almost as fast as staff are deleting them, just looks like the staff are making more work for themselves.

Either that or there is a forum mechanic in place im not aware of

There's a mechanic in place :) We got better things to do during the weekend than manually erase spam :)
