How does this game compare to Kyn? They look terribly similar in premise and execution, and I wanted to know if anyone had played both and could shed some light on the similarities/differences.

Anyone have any insight on this now?
I've only finished the second mission of Vikings and haven't actually played Kyn, but I watched some gameplay of the latter and can point out some obvious differences to get the ball rolling.

Kyn looks more like Dungeon Siege, where you get multiple party members and have them all swarm enemies for good mindless fun. Vikings has you controlling a single character and combat is more action-oriented. For example, enemies have shields even early on that will block damage, so you have to attack from the right angle or use special skills (which use cooldown timers) to damage them. Lots of rolling around, and you have to be more of an active participant in combat. You can't pause or slow down the game like I saw happen in Kyn, either, unless you count the rare opportunities to go into a short-lived rage.

Vikings kind of feels like a mix between Sacred and The Witcher 2 thus far, with all the good and bad that potentially brings. Sorry I can't comment more on Kyn.

That was actually very insightful, and points out some of the bigger differences that I can see. I'm just trying to figure out if Vikings would be a waste of cash... It looks pretty awesome, and from your description sounds far more tactical than your typical ARPG.
