The rise of the pc handheld awakened some early hope... A glimpse of a care free future where one only needs to leave the comfort of his couch for actions that require a certain degree of bodily interaction. The announcement made by the Order of Battle team, to join this exclusive group of hand, held, fanatics, was thus met with great joy and sparked beforehand a little couch hand held online party. Needless to say, the morning after was pretty rich, as I'm sure you can imagine. Checking all systems, asking bing chat if any peculiarities may have arisen, ignoring following adds using women sexuality, opening steam, waiting for steam to load.... And yes -Order of Battle- finds itself between the mongering titles awaiting patch. A click, then another 10 sec waiting period and we are ready to go.

My guess is that Slitherine, the publisher, announced a special multiplayer event for every owner of the Steam Deck handheld device. They released a patch for the Steam Deck control scheme just in time for the online event. Everything went fine until OP realized that there was no clear way to click the 'force selection button'. Perhaps there was no extra button left on the handheld device specifically for that function, or maybe it was hidden somewhere deep within the interface, or worst-case scenario, it was completely missed and the patch didn't provide any helpful solutions in that regard.

But OP clearly couldn't proceed further and became very frustrated and confused all at the same time.
The developer reached out to me....

left on the d-pad, bud.....

I Swear, this function did not work when i tried it!!!!

but now it does
