I'm a cordcutter and I've been trying to get a stream to play directly in my video player so that I'm not running unnecessary software that eats up my computer resources, especially chrome the memory hog.

It's a free stream online, maybe someone can figure it out?

BNN Bloomberg Live
I tried pasting this direct url to VLC but nothing appears.

You might need a Canada VPN

It's legal. The news stream is free on their website. I just don't want to use the web browser.
No tips?
Why would you want to inundate yourself with fiscal news of all things?

So, no. I think I'll instead just vaguely insinuate how you provided little to no information about your setup, leaving us to guess at what might be wrong.
The stream that Bloomberg serves in that .mpd is widevine encrypted, VLC doesn't support it so you can't watch it directly.
There might be some ways to get it working with ffmpeg/ffplay but is the things worth the hassle.
