Sometimes playing pc games can make you literally lol. Had a moment like that in Gothic 1. When you begin the game you learn who is so good at things they are trainers. I am told of Cavalorn, who is outside the camp nearby and is a master bowman (and can teach you to be a master bowman, if you have the level points to spend.
So, still in Chapter 1, weak but having gained some better equipment decided to "test" my abilities against a Snapper, a very tough beast early game. Not far from where Cavalorn stays (and teaches) is a band of Snappers. So I lure one lone out toward me. I give it everything I have and realize, ok, this ain't happening, so I turn and run as fast as I can towards Cavalorn, who I believe will save me.
I go running past him, assuming I would then hear the Snapper screaming in pain from the arrows of Cavalorn The Mighty. That assumption didn't last long, as the next thing I know Cavalorn passes me on my left running faster than I can possibly run (without a potion). I mean he went FLYING past me. It was like "Dude, you're the master here, WTF???"
And then after the Snapper killed me, as I lay on the ground, the last thought that went through my mind was that old joke was true. The one about two guys coming across a hungry lion, who decides they look like lunch. They both start running, and one looks to the other and says "We have no hope, we can't out run a lion." and the other responds "I don't have to outrun the lion, I only have to out run you."
Appears what's true with lions is also true with Snappers. Long live Cavalorn, The Mighty Hunter.
What's made you laugh out loud playing a game recently?
EDIT: Replaced "Raptor" with "Snapper" as upon going back in game I had remembered their name wrong. Guessing there is no such thing as Raptors in Gothic 1. I do remember Razors and Biters. Not sure where my mind was coming up with Raptor (aren't they flying beasts now that I think about it?) Just my old mind getting confused yet again.
