And what would be also awesome is, if gog galaxy could actually be installed on another format or lets say on linux. On linux the download now button doesn’t even appear. The steam deck is pretty popular so if you want to expand your business make galaxy more open to linux. Bottles lets you install galaxy but it doesn’t work properly since the formatted sd isnt a compatible format. All other launchers work like a charm though. Pc gaming is the future and pc pocket devices will alway get bigger. Valve doesn’t like windows which is good and steam deck devices will always be the most popular ones so there is a market there

I don't think your OP has done anything actually to prove the premise of that statement.

I'm sure Valve loves Windows just fine.

Then how will they fit in our pockets?

There are plenty of alternatives of various shapes and sizes, all of which run Windows and thus Galaxy. They've been doing it long before Valve joined the wagon and stole the thunder.

At least in the past Valve/Gabe has demonstrated their nervousness over where Windows has been heading:

https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2012/07/steams-newell-windows-8-catastrophe-driving-valve-to-embrace-linux/

Steam Deck running Linux, instead of Windows like pretty much all the other PC gaming handhelds, kinda shows that apparently hasn't changed at Valve. Linux is their plan B.

Head of Epic has shown similar sentiments, but they haven't done much of anything to embrace any alternatives on their store.

Bigger pockets. Problem solved.

No reason why I can't make a serious reply to your joke. Steam deck already doesn't fit into a pocket, but some indie devices do, such as GPD Win 1-4, the upcoming GPD Win Mini.

That’s a well known fact that gabe doesn’t like windows and that the deck is linux based is just another prove

Man if you are a mobile gamer than take your phone but the deck is pretty portable and more flexible than any mobile nonsense ever can be

It's certainly not a bad device.

Personally I wait for the Ayaneo Slide however.
Right now I would go for the Asus machine, but the Ayaneo Slide with it's 7840 processor, the thumb sticks and tiltable 1200p display + integrated keyboard looks to be the jackpot, the 1200p make it especially usable for older games with 16:10 or 4:3 resolution.

Both Gabe's and Tim's fear of Windows 8 came from a totally imaginary threat.

With Win 8 Microsoft did 3 things
1st) Built a Digital Store into the OS
2nd) Created a whole new application Environment with UWP
3rd) Made a version of windows that only used UWP

Influential People who all should have known better, put 2 and 2 together and made fish.

The belief was Microsoft was about to copy Apple and create a walled garden OS where all apps and transactions must go through them.

Now anyone with even the most cursory knowledge of Microsofts core business (its not PC gamers or people at home surfing the interwebs) would know that simply could never happen. It would destroy an ecosystem they spent decades growing.

Also anyone that has a vague idea what the phrase "Anti-trust" means, also knows Microsoft could not do this, well not with out being sued al the way back to Win 3.11 for Workgroups.

Like everyone else they's like to have a system where they own the main store, to eliminate the competition. A Steam console would have been perfect for them, but that plan failed.

The deck is their version 2 of that plan. A system with their shop preinstalled and only little danger from Ubisoft/Microsoft/Origin/Rockstar, not even Epic. They are not against Windows itself, they are against the competition, which is totally understandeable.
They are against the idea that Microsoft forces you to use their app. Their os is open source and makes portable gaming awesome as well. Gabe doesn’t like Microsoft which he hinted in many interviews. Surely he doesn’t say it open because valve is still a business

It's possible to use Windows without ever entering the MS Store or XBox App. Or do you mean a different one? I don't recall any Steam game needing any app offered by Microsoft.

If it's because the store is preinstalled then ... well, the Steamdeck has a SteamOS and Steam installed. So they are guilty of exactly the same thing.
Btw, can one use the Steamdeck with SteamOS installed without having a Steam account?
Microsoft has a monopoly. Valve knows that they willd o shady things in the future. Win 11 is just a glimps of it. Im talking about the future not now

Back when Windows 8 was announced GabeN had a freak-out, fearing that Microsoft may lock down the OS, making their store mandatory. It never came true, but if Microsoft ever wanted to to alienate the entire enterprise sector, as well as gamers, they technically could. They probably won't go that far though.
