The problem is that you can't keep the current forum. GOG doesn't know how it works anymore. We have a not-responsible community manager who admitted that no one at GOG seems to know how to ban a user from the forums without killing their entire account! We are free to do whatever we want without having to fear any consequences. Me? I'm happy with poking AwareHole or BrAdLeY every once in a while, because I seriously can't stand these idiots. But Tauto, Kleetus, BrAdLeY and all those other maniacs are here to destroy this place! They won't stop. They do what they do because they know that no one can stop them. GOG won't close their accounts just because of some forum drama. GOG. Will. Not. Ban. Them. Not as long as banning hem means taking away their access to their library. It won't happen. So GOG only has three possibilities:

1. Find somone who remembers how the forum works
2. Allow us to go on like that
3. Close the forums (optionally: get a working forum software)

I don't see 1 and 2 as viable options. Sorry.
This is not going to happen. GOG doesn't know how to ban someone from the forums without locking them out of their accounts. If a troll has one single game in his account, GOG won't do that. Even if its only a game that one got for free during one of GOG's giveaways (Torchlight, The Witcher, Neverwinter Nights, etc.).

This all started with the intolerant people like Real, like Breja, like any number of other people who cannot stand being disagreed with. Not saying these specific people have taken all these actions, but as a mob group of "forum regulars", they helped create what we have today.

Even some of the trolls might have been reasonable at one time, I don't know, hard to go back, but when these people think they are entitled to name call, entitled to downrep, entitled to bully and harass those with opinions they disagree with, these people started the problem that snowballed into what we have now.

At least I don't remember some of them going off the rails as bad as they do now, but what do they have to lose. Their rep is in the negatives, every post they make gets low rated and it doesn't matter if they are making a reasonable post or not. There is no incentive for them to be nice anymore. And where did that start?

This forum has always been a bit catty and insular. Say the wrong thing in the wrong thread to the wrong person and one gets ostracized by the regulars. Say something bad about TinyE, even something he deserves should as he ought not to spam every thread, and you end up on the outs with this bully brigade.

Real, I can't stand you either. Our disagreement started over the contention that these gifting games were causing the problems on these forums. That by being nice, us gifters ruined the forums by attracting scammers and then spammers. It's just like saying the clothes some women wear invite rape. It's just victim blaming. And frankly, people who aren't smart enough to understand this aren't smart enough to understand a lot of things.

I contributed to TBBBBOB, the Community Giveaway, some other giveaways, had numerous own giveaways and even had one massive event where I gave away 100 GOG games (not $1 Humble Bundle Steam keys). I openly stated that Sachys was going too far with his "DO GIFTING LIKE I TELL YOU TO DO IT OR DIE!!!!!!!!" attitude. I never said gifting is a problem. We never had any disagreements because of gifting.

We had our little "discussion" because of your beloved known scammer threads. I said they're useless when every scam happens with newly registered Rep: 0 accounts (which was still the case back then) and that it'd be a better idea to give new traders some basic guidelines (don't trade via PM, check the successful trades thread, ask known traders for help, lower rep goes first, etc.) to avoid scams. Then you fuckface immediately started screaming at me for "supporting scammers". That's the day where I lost any trace of respect I may have had for you. You're just a screaming idiot who lacks reading comprehension.

It didn't matter that many of the people you defended were proven to later be scammers. Nope, the great Real is just never wrong. Many people avoided scams by checking the lists and reading about the tactics, but we were all idiots because only the great Real knows what is right and apparently trying to warn people about scammers was wrong and clearly emboldening them. This is the forum problem in a nutshell. Perfect example. Real pressuring the Known Scammer threads to quit posting names because he thought it was useless and when we didn't the complaints and name-calling ensued. Like I said, forum regulars who think they get to decide what threads are okay and which people are okay to stay. Basic busy-bodies who think they are the only ones with the right answer and everyone else should bow to their brilliance. I cannot count the number of people who later posted how they avoided a scam because someone posts about a new alt who had messaged them. I'm proud of what people were trying to do in that thread. But we are all jerks I guess because Real says so.

As I said, one of the big problems are self-centered people, at one one of them a potty-mouth at that who can never admit to being wrong. And a potty-mouth that doesn't think repeated name-calling "douchebag" "piece of shit" "cocksucker" "fuckface" et cetera constitutes bullying or harassment of any kind.
