I'm too lazy to check it, is the client still connecting?

I wonder if hackers *cough*tencent*cough* are involved or if it's simply the same incompetent shenanigans as usual.

Client is just fine. It's just the store part that's overrun due to "OMG, sale!" Was downloading ~24GB at max download bandwidth just now without any trouble. Got myself the RE2make for a nice $22.50 at Gamersgate. :)

Just like GOG the Steam halloween sale just started so yeah, it is likely being flooded but it's probably not Tencent ;)

How do you know? Do you have insider information, or maybe... GASP, it can't be! You're a chinese agent!

Looks like they rolled back the frontpage Halloween layout but the sales are all still there, lol.

j0ekerr:
Try saying that last part in simplified Chinese in the Simplified Chinese general forum and see the moderation sweep in in 3 2 1 bam!

The client opens just fine here, and closes just as fine.

EDIT: The Halloween sale was not as visible though as via the browser.

You can see their halloween sale page in a browser - https://store.steampowered.com/sale/halloween2019

But the client's still down for me
Looool, it really looks like the main page itself was the issue and they basically DDOS'ed themselves.

"wtf is this page, it does over 1200 ajax requests, like multiple requests for every single game on the page"

Twitter link

I know next to nothing about ajax other than it's a web-serving tech.
And I still facepalm at that.

Ooooh and they had to take down the Halloween page.
Now it's just a regular front page with no mention of the sale, and a lot of discounts.

I would've worded this as Is steam down?, but other than that I dunno as I cannot access the PC with my steam account atm.

I doubt they bother with such shenanigans when they have their other ways to manipulate users and the market.

!!when did Tencent find time to turn from rapper to hacker?? I mean sure he is a bad muverf****r dude and all that, but what did Steam do to him personally for him to learn to become a hacker and get revenge???!!! crazy story like in the tabloids. I'm not buying it.

You have mistaken the individual Fiddy for the communist corporation Tencent. Your unofficial assessment (with QA) is approximately the correct deflationary value, however.
