I know that we've got quite a lot of time to 2018 (GOG's 10th anniversary), but on the other hand such ideas have to go through whole "company machinery", so I've decided to give it a shot and ask now, in November 2016 :P

I feel that such anniversary would be great opportunity to appreciate all loyal customers, who were with GOG for many years and were extending their library, for glory of DRM-free gaming!

Here is my idea - every owner of GOG account, who has at least 100 games on account, would be rewarded with 10$ (or equivalent) on his/her GOG wallet. And for every 100 games more - the reward would be bigger for another 10$ (or equivalent).

So for 100 games - 10$ "GOG wallet boost", for 200 games - 20$, for 300 - 30$ etc. etc. I'm guessing that probably there would be needed some maximal limit (let's say 150$?).

In my opinion there are two big advantages of such idea. First one is that it's relatively "scam-proof". After all, it's rather impossible to have account with so many games in shome "shady" way (or maybe put is in this way - even if it is, it's rather not "affordable" to make in this way account with 100 games to have 10$ "coupon"). And second - it's nice signal that it's good to be with GOG and buy games regulary there.

Oh well, and there is the third one - spectacular way to celebrate 10th Anniversary, woohoo!

Of course details (such as "game tiers" etc.) could be definitelly subject of discussion, but that's my idea (have hope that it's not totally crazy and could be something worthy to consider).

So now, my question to GOG team - would you take into consideration my idea? Any chances that it's something which could be discussed (and maybe, maybe even performed in GOG's anniversary)?

And question to GOG's community - what do you think about it? Do you like this idea? What's your "general" opinion about it and about details?

how about drm'ing their catalogue, like gamersgate did some years ago. thats the last thing gog didn't change so far.
I think it's a good idea :). Only thing that could make it better would be free copies of Freddi Fish 2! \o/
I'd say sales based around major events that happened on gog with the story behind those for one idea. The fake shutdown of 2010 which brought the D&D Infinity Engine games for one example.
If GOG keeps on being a dumping ground for unpatched indies and new games will there even be a 10th anniversary?

I'll answer my own question with a probably, they'll just have even MORE unpatched indies and new games.

Waaah! Teh new games hurt brain!

This has been another episode of Crybaby Troll Reenactment Theatre. Join us next time as Sir Laurence Olivier stars in the all-time classic "Much Ado About Deleted Games From G2A".

As to the idea itself, I'm not really a "gimme stuff" type of person. I mean, it's nice to get a free game every now and again as a bonus for buying stuff during a big sale or something, but I don't feel like I should get free stuff just for being here. I mean, I like things to be a simple deal - I pay for stuff, I get that stuff, the end. I think the best idea to celebrate would be just a truly huge sale, and some really impressive releases.

Gog should just put another 1000 eur in my real wallet. Maybe I'd buy a game.

I totally deserve it. I feel entitled to it.
*insert complaints*
I would be thrilled with the release of DROIDWORKS! Also, the age of empire games.

I tried, but the slot's full. :|
Your idea is bad and you should feel bad.
Considering their track record, I'd say they're likelier to fix the forum before implementing something like this.

While it would certainly sound nice to get $130 on my GOG wallet, I'd rather have them release some big titles from some years ago. A Mass Effect Trilogy (complete with all DLCs), for example.

I agree that simple giveaway can be considered as not the most "subtle" method (and not always bringing positive effects), but on the other hand - I personally have very good opinion about "loyalty programs" or even "loyalty one-shot action", if they're made properly (so not those with dull and rather pointless gratification for huge expenses, such as "spend 100$ to receive 10 points, collect 1000 points and you'll receive sticker on your car).

And since we had a couple of times giveaways of full games available for literally everyone (and really good games, such as Fallout series or Alien vs Predator), I feel that such action wouldn't be something more "lavish", and even would encourage a bit to buy a couple of more games in some promo. After all, if someone bought 100/200/300 (etc.) games, already left here some concrete amount of $ (or equivalent, depending on the available currency). I feel that it would be great to say in this way "thanks that you're with us, here, have some little treat to buy this game you were eyeing for some time but didn't bought yet for some reason.

(thanks Breja for taking part in discussion, I was eager to discuss with other forum users this idea, but it seems that this thread went in a bit "different subject").

(A little offtop on the side - I've noticed that some users mentioned about huge sale + some release of "big titles" - of course I fully agree with you, that such things would be also great to have during GOG's 10th Anniversary)

Wow, 1300 games, that's really impressive!

Well, I feel that many people (including me) would share your opinion (with various games, but surely would agree that there are games that they're "peeking out" to be released on GOG from some time and are uncertain if and when it will happen).

I heard GOG assassinated Fidel Castro. They made it look like Fidel died of old age, by simply waiting long enough to let Fidel die of natural causes.

Quite ingenious, now no one suspects GOG.
