I'm a little surprised no one made this thread yet (unless I just missed it). I have not played any of the Uncharted games, but I still had a blast watching it. Probably because I'm a fan of Fillion since Firefly/Serenity, and this probably as close to seeing Mal Reynolds again as we'll ever get. I hope it will lead to something more. If not a movie, than at least maybe a web series to continue the story? I really like this mythical treasure hunt genre, but there are so few movies like this that are actually worth a damn.

Honestly, if nothing more comes out of this, Disney should get Fillion for the next Indiana Jones movie, and make it 50/50 old Indy with Ford/flashbacks with Fillion.
Not the right actor I'd imagine for a live action Sully.

I wonder if they noticed the irony that they casted NATHEN Fillion as NATHEN Drake?
Kind of questionable when he just rolled up those 500 year old letters and stuffed them in his pocket, that can't be good for their conservation.
I enjoyed the short film, but i've always found Nathan Fillion to be charismatic. Drake is pretty close to Malc from Firefly too.
I hope they do make something happen like that, just like I hope someday I can play Uncharted. Looks like an awesome game.
I don't even know what Uncharted is.

Aw, man, despite two decades of nerdcrush, Nathan Fillion is no Henry Jones. He just doesn't have it to be a good Indy. He's closer to a decent Crocodile Dundee than to Indy. There's a certain physicality that Ford brought that Fillion just can't match. And unlike Ford, Fillion is so charismatic and such a great comedy actor that he doesn't naturally exude the comparatively more serious tone of Indy - as amazing a fit as he was for Malcolm Reynolds, I just don't see him filling that fedora. On the other hand, I'm enough of a fan that I'd probably watch it anyway :/

I'll be honest, while Drake was modeled after Nathan Fillion's mannerisms, the amount of physicality required for an actor to play the character, I would say, rules out Nathan Fillion, and most almost all other actors. Maybe if this came out during Firefly/Serenity, it would be a better fit, but now, Nathan Fillion is a little too out of shape for the role. I can't imagine the amount of "Nathan Neck" and CGI that would be required to make a film where Fillion staring.

I worry that if this leads to an actual movie, all we'd get is some Bourne 2&3&4 clusterfuck, and Tomb Raider 2018 CGI.

Loved it. Fillion IS and always has been Nathan Drake as far as i'm concerned.
The uncharted games were fun, have only done 1-3. Fillion was great in firefly, but I am always really dubious about game tie ins. MK is really the only one I have seen which is any good and that short film doesn't inspire confidence. Lots of holes in it.
Uncharted have good characters and story, but the games are annoying. The second one starts off good, stays good and then 2/3 of the way through turns to utter shite. The same for the first one. For this reason, I haven't got into the third. The Youtube video was pretty well done. I liked the choice of actors.

I'd disagree. There are moments in Firefly and Serenity where things get serious, and Mal gets very serious indeed. Honestly, he's a character with a much darker background and a much more serious side than Indy. He just doesn't show it often. But when he does, Fillion nailed those moments.

And anyway, he'd still definately be better then whatshisface from Solo (much as I enjoyed the movie anyway) :D

On that, is solo in any way worth watching. Seen a trailer and poster and it doesn't look good. Also on the subject of pouty faced teenage twats on screen, I see a series called krypton advertised. I assume it is dreadful?

I was expecting it to be pretty bad, and was very nicely surprised. It's not a phenomenal movie, it has some problems (including possibly the single dumbest moment in the franchise), but overall it's really good and a lot of fun. It's more of a Firefly movie than Star Wars, a space wester heist movie, but it's a good one. Good action, really fun space chase sequence, brilliant young Lando. It won't blow your mind, but it's fun and I'm sure I'll rewatch it more than once in the future.

Haven't seen it yet, I'm waiting for more season to "accumulate". If nothing else, Brainiac and his ship look great, so I want to see it for that.

You're right, THEY BELONG IN A MUSEUM.
