rjbuffchix: To be honest, I am not quite understanding your position...from your posts in this topic, can you please explain how you would justify taking any sort of stand against a hypothetical "Siege of Avalon:Anthology with Denuvo"? Based on your other post, couldn't one argue that GOG "has the data" that DRMing this game (which you just so happen to be interested in, unlike the microtransaction ones) is a good idea for GOG's future? Would you then tell yourself to "be a grownup" and rationalize that even if this game were to come with Denuvo, at least other games here are sold DRM-free?
MadalinStroe: What does adding DRM to an old game, have to with a completely new game that is designed around microtransactions? You are mixing the two.
No, you are...By being okay with a DRMed microtransaction game on GOG means it is hard if not logically incoherent to justify being against DRM in different games on GOG. As long as they make money for CDPR, right? I am talking on a macro level, not about this particular game Siege of Avalon exclusively. Incidentally, I'm pretty sure I recall a while ago that Bethesda was trying to add DRM to Doom 1 and/or 2 (old games) elsewhere not on GOG, but my memory is fuzzy on that.
MadalinStroe: There is a huge market for microtransactions, and I think that GOG should have a product that takes advantage of it. I would never buy the damned thing, but that would allow them to continue their other projects: GOG, Cyberpunk 2077, ?Witcher4?.
The entire discussion was about microtransactions, I never said that they should use DRM, in fact I have said three times in this thread, as long as they stay DRM-Free, I see I'm even getting downvoted...
I didn't downvote you :)
I think the most reasonable compromise would be to have the microtransaction DRM stuff elsewhere. That way it could make money like you say to fund projects, without eroding GOG's own brand. "DRM-free" is a much better brand than "DRM-free, EXCEPT FOR x, y, z...".
I know GWENT is on mobile, maybe for PC just have that stuff on CDPR's own site instead of GOG. Take Galaxy too :) I don't think there is a huge overlap where a GWENT whale buying all the microtransactions is going to buy a DRM-free epic singleplayer game here (something like Kingdom Come Deliverance for example).
GOG already fractured their userbase by chasing after the DRM and microtransaction dragons. So if the userbase is already split, at least make it logically separated so as not to damage GOG.com's branding.
