Adanicus: Yes that is what i use to do whenever i found slow speed, and i notice some hours are better. However lasts downloads i found that even the improvement wasn't satisfactory. Luckily last games were all "small", only one of them was 6GB and it took some hours.

I hope they don't discontinue or degrade the offline installers. The offline installer and the "no-DRM" Is one of the main reasons i own a lot more games from GOG than Steam (only the half lifes and some exclusives on the platform).

gog2002x: I don't use Galaxy to install or play games, but I do use it for downloading the offline installers using it. And I have to say, it's incredibly efficient from me to click one time dow DL all files, than clicking each file one by one the old way I used to do.

I made the jump either late last year or early this is and I don't regret it one bit. I don't know about gameplay, but Galaxy is smooth as butter when it comes to DLing the installers. (Aahh, just to clear up any misunderstandings, I only use butter for cooking...it's smooth on the pan...)

I do have one fear though and that's DLing anything larger than 50gb. Cause I get nervous my drive my overheat or something lol. Thankfully, there are only a 3 or 4 games over that size in my library. As soon as they are fully updated, I'm gonna back them up...sigh...

Ofc, if you have a metered connection or something, it might not be an option.

I guess i will have to try Galaxy finally. I didn't know you could use it basically as a download manager for offline installers. Next huge game i buy, i will give it a try, or the LGOGDownloader other person mentioned. Thanks.

I can confirm the slow download speed. I try the last five days to archive some offline installers but only get a download speed of around 500 kB/s.
With Gallaxy its running in 3 - 7 MB/s range. What is also not fast anyway. But the offline installer seems to be limited artificially or provided by anothder slow source/CDN.

When someone reports slow download speeds in Europe, I get an urge to check my download speed.

Phew, still getting 30Mbytes/sec (downloading two files at the same time) with a web browser.

I haven't tried in the past 2 weeks or so, but end of last month I was getting up to 47MB per sec using Galaxy as the offline files downloader. Also make sure Galaxy, your browser and your OS are all updated just to be on the safe side. I always check those when my connections get slow.

You could also call your ISP to have them run a test and to refresh your modem/connection. I do that from time to time. Or you can just Google how to do it manually. I started doing that at the advice of my ISP. Manually at first, but now I just call them real fast.

There's a game that updated a while back and is about 5gb, so maybe I'll DL it using Galaxy today and report back. That should be a decent test. Another one with about 800mb, I'll try it also, though it's probably a lesser test.

Update 1:
- So I downloaded Tower of Time (5.72 GB) via Galaxy and was getting between 32 to 45 MB/s, with most times 38 to 42 MBs
- So ToT averaged 40 MB/s
- I also downloaded Book of Demons (approx. 800 MB) via Galaxy and was getting between 38 to 42 MB/s.
- So BoD averaged 40 MB/s, though it was a fast download so hard to tell if it would have gotten lower or higher as above.

Looking at the results, I don't think the issue is with GOG.

Same problem here.

Usually i have 17-18MB/s, but lately it is often below 8MB/s, sometimes even below 4MB/s.
