Glancing at the videos that are there (spanning 7 years in just 2 pages) i can't say i'm impressed at all.

Other than seeing a few unboxing videos at the top, i only see a bunch of Eve online videos, not representative of what the intro video to your channel hinted we'd see.

Honestly i'd almost prefer to see an Atari or Amiga or Apple 2 channel. Certainly go through old games even if they are emulated, but some of the more popular or obscure games, or public education games that were around to show what was around from the 80's to mid 90's.

I'd almost say look at LGR, he does a bunch of this stuff too, and does it really really well. I'd emulate him a bit if you were going to.

I just started up last month, other than that, it was just the occasional vid over the span of 7 years, I should probably get rid of all the vids prior to restarting... thanks for the feedback!

mistermumbles: I watched your latest one, and one thing I must say is that the short looping music was quite irritating after a while. You might think about reducing its volume and/or having it fade out completely shortly after the beginning. It's really distracting from the actual video content.
Thanks for the advice! I'll try and find a less intrusive track for future videos and tune down the volume.

You should be able to create a new sub-channel and put your content there instead. People do it all the time, one for live streaming, one for news, one for politics, one for reviews, one for music. Etc etc.

Might start with Royalty-free music or something, preferably something at least 3 minutes long, something that fits the mood.

Of course, pacing greatly changes the mood, and instruments greatly change the mood. So a midi file with modifications of instruments and pace can make huge differences.

Alternatively find music for the game in question and use that as the background for unboxing or the topic on hand for the game (at least until you get into the actual play-through). But volume vs your voice should probably be say 1/6th, you don't want it drowning you out, you just want to take away the silence.

Another alternative is modplug music, there's tons of well done music freely available you can probably use for fair-use, and turns out very high quality. (think of them like midi-files that include their own soundfonts); I'd start with the featured modules as there's plenty of good stuff there.

Thanks for the advice!!! although I haven't found a nice mic yet to pair with my dslr, so the vocals are disjointed between segments... but I moved things around on the channel and used much less intrusive music on my next two videos for some games that I hope will make it into the gog library soon... Aces of the Deep (For Silent Hunter fans) and the first two Space Hulk games for 40k fans, which I hope, since GOG does have Warhammer games, will be added soon.

Space Hulk & Space Hulk Vengeance of the Blood Angels
Aces of the Deep
