AKA. IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey

Wings of Prey Complete, a massive WWII flight combat sim, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com!

The name might not suggest it, but Wings of Prey Complete is part of the unparalleled IL-2 Sturmovik series - the premiere World War II aerial combat simulation. The large scale battles, an adjustable flight system that strikes the ideal balance between accessibility and realism, and everything else that made the original game the hit it was, it's all here. Wings of Prey Complete introduces plenty of new and exciting content for flight-sim fans - that includes a detailed (and very visual) damage model, hundreds of aircraft flying at once, and over 40 authentic planes to master. While war rages in the skies, a big part of the excitement is in what happens down below: Wings of Prey Complete features unbelievably detailed landscapes, and even more detailed ground support action for that final pinch of immersion.

The package available on GOG.com is complete with bug and compatibility fixes, and all available DLC - a true digital collectors edition.

Feel the wind beneath your wings in Wings of Prey Complete , available now, DRM-free on GOG.com!
I'm really looking forward to the gog stream on this one, it looks very beautifully done but I want to see the actual gameplay before buying.

E_A: No DRM on GoG ;-)
Correct, but the Steam version originally had an updated Starforce on it and a lot of people hate Starforce DRM old or new version.
I know I may sound like a blasphemer, but... would you recommend this game to a "flightstickless" player? How are the controls with mouse and keyboard or controller (if supported)?
Does this game work with an Xbox 360 controller?
Multiplayer "not supported" seems to mean in this case: does not work at all, because there is no LAN mode.

" there is no other way to play Lan amongst ourselfs."

Is it playable with keyboard and mouse ?
Waw, I had no idea that there was a single-player game that was like War Thunder. Even though I'm not much of a fan of flight sims and F2P games, I enjoyed War Thunder; it has a very accessible control scheme while still taking into account some of the realistic elements of flying an aircraft. It's perfect blend of realistic and arcade elements. However, it made me wish there was a standalone/single-player version, so this might be right up my alley!

Wishlisted.

Yeah, that's what "not supported" usually means ;-). On a more serious note: the multiplayer was chained to the old ruplay network. Unless GoG completely reworks the network code that's not going to happen.

However, the studio behind this has a new free multiplayer-only game, War Thunder. You might want to check it out.

Hope you enjoyed the stream. If you have any further questions let me know :D.
Essentially this is just a PC version of a game made, first and foremost, to get an Il-2 game onto the consoles. It was never meant to be a replacement or advancement overall of Il-2. I'm not sure how much extra went into the PC version, but it's generally well accepted for what it is. As long as you know up front that it was never meant to be a true hardcore sim, you should be okay.

Perfectly. Actually I'm playing it as if it was an FPS, the left hand on the keyboard for plane controls and the right hand on the mouse for view controls. Smooth as butter. Because, really, no need to bother a HOTAS, or even a joystick, for this one... :)

Thanks for the answer .
So, this can be played like an arcade game? Like the HAWX, Air Conflicts, Blazing Angels etc. series?

Doc0075: Does anyone know if Logitech flightsticks are supported by this game?
I see no reason, why they shouldn't be, but take it with a grain of salt, since I played it (on Steam) with a Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X.

That one worked like a charm.

Haven't tried that myself, but according to a friend of mine - it works.

But it's sooo much better, with one :)

Depending on your settings in the menu - yes, it can.
