mventurelli: Hi Matruchus, this is definitely not like Alien Hallway in any way haha :D

The game is really different, people usually don't get it before they actually play.

If you like Plants vs Zombies I recommend trying out the Demo.

The gameplay is not like PvZ but the spirit and design philosophy are.

Matruchus: Yeah, the game seems surprisingly fun after trying the demo.

The simplistic look and the trailer really deceive you about what this game is about.

Will give it a shot in the future. Also thanks for pointing out the demo otherwise I would have totally missed it.
If you wait a day or so we should have the universal Linux version of the game uploaded :)

lostwolfe: thank you for the demo. this is absolutely how it should be done.
QFT. I can't emphasize this enough.

And Demo is fun. Will definitely pick it up at some point (very soon).

ValamirCleaver: Star Vikings?... Are they Lost?
That was a great game :)
It's nice to see another game coming with a demo and even with a Linux version. Thanks! But I would prefer not having to add the demo to my account to be able to download it. ;)

And it's always great to advertise a 10% discount when the real discounts I get are 9% respective 7% for the game and the soundtrack. And no, these are not "rounding" differences caused by the conversion to my local currency, these are the discounts I get with the Dollar prices. Please fix the discounts or advertise them correctly!
Played the demo and it is quite amusing. I like the tactical-puzzle structure of the battles, and the various upgrade paths for the characters add spice to the game. I'm not quite convinced that the random battle builder is as good as the hand-built battles, as some of them seem to come out heavily weighed for or against me, rather than as tightly constructed puzzles. But still fun overall, and kudos to the devs for letting us try the game out!

Oh, and the hair-metal theme and headbanging victory screens are great! :D
Hi all,

The Linux version of Star Vikings (game and demo) has been updated to a so-called "universal build" so you no longer have to install a bunch of 32-bit libraries when you are on a 64-bit Linux distro :)
I just wanted to say--and I'm not saying this as a comment on the quality of the game itself--but alfadir's review of it is a work of modern art and I hope it remains the only review that the game has.

Haha, that's hilarious... I wonder if he posts that review on all Viking games?
As a jab at historical inaccuracy I think the fact they are in space is a little more obvious :P

Also, we all know Vikings didn't really have horned helmets, but it's kind of a thing now...

mventurelli: Not really - the game is not turn-based, per se. Haha. It's weird. Play the demo :)
I think there is a bug with the daily challenge. At least I didn't get one today. :(
To the person who wrote this "review":
The vikings did not have horned helmets, please stop continuing this myth. The horned helmets comes from Wagner operas.
I want to see that Wagner opera in which the horns are glowing! :)
Thanks for the demo guys. It allowed me to see firstly that it runs on my Vista machine and secondly that it is a puzzle game with some RPG elements, which I am enjoying thus far. I may very well pick this up in future. Added to my wishlist.
Thank you for putting up that demo! Since I was uncertain about the game, it was nice to have a way to try it out... and now, several beaten-up snails and a big smile later, I am one proud owner of the full game :)

I know it is not the same, but in a way it reminds me of the fun, that I had with the Lost Vikings way back then. And of Plant versus Zombies. Well done!

Yeah, the hornet helmets are also a pet peeve of mine since the whole concept is "shoulder spikes of evil" level of stupid (it's heavy, unwieldy, clunky, a safety hazard in battles AND it catches and drives toward your skull the blows that the helmet is supposed to deflect), but complaining about it for THIS game? Come on! ^^

The Steam version got an update a week ago. Any word on when GOG will get it?
