UPDATE: The first No Man's Sky update is now out!
It's a much-awaited bundle of fixes, as well as compatibility and performance improvements and you can grab it now via GOG Galaxy auto-updates, or with the newest offline installers.

No Man's Sky a massive science-fiction game set in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. Note that the game takes place in one persistent PC universe, shared across GOG and Steam.

In an intergalactic society, only the few set off towards the stars — explorers, those unafraid, those with nothing to lose. They set off never to come back as far as any of us are concerned. And thus, we still look up at an infinite sky, now within our reach, yet still untouched — a no man's land, a No Man's Sky.

No Man's Sky promises discovery of an infinite, uncharted universe. Its billions of stars, planets, unknown living creatures, breathtaking sights and lonely wastelands — all seamlessly connected — gradually getting catalogued by explorers drawn to the distant mysteries of the horizon, eager to leave a permanent mark in their wake.

The frontier is merciless and dangerous. Exposed to a universe of extremities in your fragile suit and ship, you'll need resources and upgrades to get far — as well as the means to stand your ground in a fight. Whether you journey to the center of it all or seek out the farthest reaches of existence, the trip will not be simple or dull. You'll catalogue things unseen, discover alien artifacts and reveal the greatest mysteries of the universe. If you survive.

Calibrate your suits for extreme insomnia, reach out and touch the No Man's Sky, DRM-free on GOG.com!

kdgog: Can you turn off all the online features (other people renaming planets and species etc?) I don't want to buy the game if that guff can't be disabled. The GOG specs didn't say it needed to be online (and that would be a form of DRM in some ways), but other places implied it was always online whether you want that or not. Thanks!
You can play offline, it just means you won't be able to sync with the database universe between players
Just a note folks,

Please ensure that your drivers are up to date, and that VC2013 C++ and VC2010 Service Pack 1 redistributables are installed. These are included with the installers, but it doesn't hurt to double check.

We're keeping an eye on this and will aim to get any patch or fixes out ASAP.

Also, the patch deployed on Steam is specifically a Steam related issue and does not affect our version.

nepundo: Sorry if this obvious, but you mean playing offline as in switching a setting in some in-game menu, or offline as in not having internet access?
In this context, playing without the Galaxy client logged in, or playing without an internet connection.

BKGaming: Well since my question was not answered, I guess it's safe to assume Hello Games can not directly upload a patch to Galaxy and does not have access to the new patching system.

The beta patch was released on Steam an hour or more ago and it's nowhere to be seen on GOG. That's rather bad that a major game releasing on GOG this year isn't using this new system. Either that or it's even worse and were being ignored by Hello Games.
At present, they are not using the beta branch functionality on GOG Galaxy, but we're working with them on it and are aiming to have them online with this as soon as possible (can't guarantee when, but we're currently working towards tomorrow). We know how frustrating this is for some, so we're doing our best to resolve this as best we can. My apologies for the delays with this and for my delay in following up with you, BK - very hectic weekend as you can imagine :)

Additionally, you can be sure that if there is an official patch released, then it will be live on GOG very soon after. We have a team on standby during the entire weekend just for that. ;)

clisair: Well, won't be playing this game any time soon. I would have to build a completely new system to play this one.

OS Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
CPU AMD Phenom II X4 965
RAM 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 532MHz (8-8-8-20)
MB ASUSTeK Computer INC. M4A87TD/USB3 (AM3)
Graphics 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti (ZOTAC International)
Monitor ASUS VW266H (1920x1200@59Hz)
Audio NVIDIA High Definition Audio
Does your processor support the SSE4.1 instruction set? I tried googling your processor but I can't be sure of the results.

clisair: Instructions MMX (+), 3DNow! (+), SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4A, AMD 64, NX

No SSE4.1, just 4A. Pulled the instruction set from Speccy
In theory, you may just need to upgrade the processor and the rest of the system should work on medium specs :)

Note, I am not telling you to go out and buy another processor or anything, just thinking out loud :)

Ahh I see. Then I am not sure what can be done as I am not sure how much work it would be to add SSE4a support to NMS...

Geraldine: After looking up my own CPU (a FX4100 Bulldozer) it is listed as having SSE4.1 (or at least most of the instructions) but the game still crashes...
Hello Games may need to recompile a new build or patch, but the clock is ticking....
What about your graphics card and support for OpenGL 4.5?

IAmSinistar: Out of curiosity, is the game substantially different on the PS4? Apart from, I assume, running correctly since every PS4 is identical at its heart, is it actually different in any gameplay fashion?
avatar
Wurzelkraft: I watched some streams of the game and it has a 30 FPS lock and an even smaller FOV. Otherwise it is the same game.
It's initial settings are set to 30 FPS. You can change it to 60 FPS within the game's Options menu.

svelle1: Nope, can't download the patch. Not in the Galaxy updater nor at the offline installer page.

Edit: Just dropped on the gog.com page. Still not found on the galaxy updater.
If you do not have the game set to manual updates, then it should update on its own via Galaxy. If you want to force the update, run a "Verify & Repair" check on No Man's Sky and it will get updated to the latest available version :)

TheDude68au: JudasIscariot of the GOG Team

How long before I get a reply to my request for a refund. I sent a request 8Hrs ago and only automated replies at the moment with a Ticket No. This latest patch has not fixed anything still crash on Hello Games splash screen.

I am quiet upset. 30 years in I.T. I can troubleshoot issues with great confidence.

If you can give me a idea of the usual turnaround on these requests.

Thankyou
It depends on how many people are in front of you. We are currently going through tickets as quickly as possible but it still may take some time to get to your ticket. Rest assured, your refund request will be honored.

Wishbone: Let me get this straight: There is no changelog, and no standalone patch? Barring using Galaxy, the only way to get the "patch" is to download the whole damned game again and reinstall it? With no knowledge of what changes have actually been made, and whether they address any of the particular issues I am experiencing with the game?

C'mon GOG, I know you can do better than that.
When we get a changelog, we will post one. We do not have any changelogs as I write this.

OSH1980: I have one, simple question: where I can download this update and patch it self? Why I can't download it on site but I have to use Galaxy?
You can download the latest available version of the game from your library. The installer has been updated to the latest version of the game so, in short, it's the same version as what gets installed via Galaxy.

Wishbone: Given that the official reason for why you release patches later than other vendors is usually that you actually test the patches before releasing them, I kind of assumed that you knew what it was you were testing. Otherwise testing it at all seems redundant.

And there is still no word on when, or even if, a standalone patch will be made available.
We tested the offline installer and its contents for:

a) does it work?
b) does it or does it not require Galaxy to run?
c) are there any major issues that would prevent the release of said update?

Since we cannot afford to wait for a changelog and we have people waiting for the offline version of the game, we did what we could in this circumstance: test the update and publish the updated offline version as soon as possible.
avatar
Wishbone: Galaxy must use one hell of a compression scheme then, since people who have gotten the patch via Galaxy says it's about 900MB, which is quite a bit less than the 2.4GB compressed installer.
Differential patching is what I think it's doing but I am not sure as I am not all that well-versed in the technical side of Galaxy.
