Looks terrible... but Adult Swim games... hmmmm... might be fun.
Ouch, that price tag seems a little excessive for a cute gimmick.

Good luck to them.

Looked at some game play videos... Blue Screen of Death - that's very clever. So if you die you get a BSOD and lose all your work, that made me chuckle. Might get this on sale - maybe sooner if combat seems interesting.

kokosabre: Looks midly interesting and might pull the trigger if there was some actual release version gameplay video and if the trailer was actually showing the game and not oneliners from different outlets.
avatar
groze: The trailer *is* showing the game. That's the gameplay. As for the "accolades", I think they're meant to be a poke at commercials of yesteryear, especially considering the transitions, the fonts and the font colors.
I think he meant something more than a couple of seconds, like how do you actually play, equip, fight, move? etc

Darvond: Indeed. At the least Rouge Legacy this or give me something to work with for the next playthough.

Nethack has the bones files, Binding of Issac has unlocks, Guild of Dungeonnering encourages experimentation and has advantages for heroes (and disadvantages) who survive the dungeon along with a unique approach, Dwarf Fortress even plays off Permadeath better.
Looking at this let's play - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FayITL_DCmE

In beginning, it shows you that you can use gems that you accumulated from playing games to unlock additional gifts/features/shortcuts. So you DO still make progress, even when you die.
Since a lot of people don't seem to understand how this game even works, I thought I might let folks know LovelustGames is doing a Kingsway stream on GOGcom's twitch channel right now.

Since most Europeans will probably miss the stream, do note twitch has a VOD (archive) system and you can watch the stream later.

So does the game run full screen or is it actually using multiple windows?

IronArcturus: So does the game run full screen or is it actually using multiple windows?
It uses multiple windows inside a full screen :P

(seriously, though, the game itself is a program that can be ran at full screen -- like any other game --, and it simulates an OS with multiple windows, desktop and taskbar icons and mostly pop-ups, be it windows or messages)

The world of Kingsway is randomly generated every time you play, and death is permanent.

What the hell is up with these gorgeous pixel art games and their shitty perma-death repeti-bore gameplay? THIS and the trend of anti-keymap rebind options are really crippling indies, which sucks as indies are far superior to AAA as far as not dicking the customers/supporters go...

PASS!

Vythonaut: I own an older version of the same game; it writes "Windows 95" on the disk!
Sure its not Windows 3.0? :D

Definitely! Windows 95 looked more polished
How is it compatible with Windows 7,8,10 if it is it's own OS?

Sorry, someone had to make that 'joke'.

*walks off in shame*

PS: Another game with annoying perma-death then, maybe the devs couldn't be bothered with save management so they made us do it instead.

Nah, W3.0 was the prequel -- W95 ran in the same e̶n̶g̶i̶n̶e̶ window though. After that, Microsoft started releasing cosmetic DLCs and i wasn't really paying attention. :P
