Dead Mountain.

<span class="bold">Kholat</span>, a game of survival and exploration, is available now for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com with a launch 10% discount.

February 2, 1959. A group of hikers sets up camp on the eastmost side of Kholat Syakhl, Russia. A snowstorm rages.
February 3, 1959. There are no survivors. Nine bodies are strewn across the campsite and surrounding areas. Half-dressed, barefoot. Cuts in the tent indicate a frantic escape.
May 4, 1959. Authorities determine an "unknown, compelling force" to be the cause of the deaths.

Narrated by Sean Bean, <span class="bold">Kholat</span> takes place years after the infamous Dyatlov Pass incident, so named after the leader of the lost expedition. In it you'll traverse the treacherous forests of Dyatlov Pass on your search for the truth behind the mysterious tragedy. Explore an open world, relying on nothing more than a map, a compass and your instincts to survive the darkness that lurks beneath. If a real-life mystery and gameplay inspired by titles like Amnesia or Dear Esther aren't enough to pique your interest, then maybe "experimental horror game" will. In the words of the developers themselves, "<span class="bold">Kholat</span> is a game that doesn't follow mainstream game design rules but creates its own".

<span class="bold">Kholat</span> is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com! The 10% launch discount will last until June 22, 10:59 PM GMT.
3 days past and it seems very small interest in this game here
no reviews
only 13 votes
only 44 comments
not even one post in the games forum
and it never appeared in the frontpage most popular list
why? i would say the consequence of a indie dev making a game with insanely high requirements
How did the devs find out what happened to those students on the Eastern side of Kholat?

you mean req. for kholat ?

recommended specs : Windows 8.1 64 (wow)

Features: Recommended attributes of your Video Card
Required You Have
Icon Pixel Shader version 5.0 4.0
Icon Vertex Shader version 5.0 4.0
Icon Dedicated Video RAM 2 GB 1.0 GB

Even the minimum is not possible on my pc :D, i am lucky i cant play FPP games (motion)
i see lots of games beiing released lately ( just google on latest releases) with excellent graphics, but also very tough requirements, i also think that not everyone has a very big super pc.

And to have win8 as recommended? thats almost the same as creating a game for win 10 :D
if i were a dev i would sure my games i created can be sold to a, as large as possible audience, (if possibe also some XP support)(doing so theres more revenue)instead of making a dream project that most users might not be able to run.

As a developer I'd rather sell millions of copies of my pixelsoup game at 2 bucks that runs on anything that bears the label PC, then creating a 'dream project' that wont sell millions of copies.

Too much eyecandy can also spoil a game :D
Sometimes devs make games they want or thinkt that would sell well (lots of eyecandy, big GFX big memory ,latetst windows if possible, instead of finding out what the buyers want :D

Rather bad marketing + shitty timing for a release with the summer sale going on. Partially it's GOG's fault with a frontpage design during sales which makes announcements really easy to miss.
Looks like another walking simulator with a horror 'theme'.
Pass.
I rarely review any games here but I am obliged to review Kholat.

I had some high expectations from this game but it fell short on every aspect other than the graphics. The story starts nice but after all it is only a walking simulator on a mountain/snowy atmosphere using your compass and map. The game is being saved every time you collect a note page etc. You occasionally face some kind of monster that tend to jump at you randomly from the nearest bush but on the other hand might not see you in front of them. :D That's about everything I've experienced during 2-3 hours into this game. Not worth playing trough at all, as there is nothing to actually do in the game other than walk around. Very disappointed.

Why don't you write your review on the gamepage instead? It will get more exposure there than here on the forum where it will be buried after some days. ;)

The game is a waste of money, its a walking in the snow simulator. Thats it. No story. No quest. No nothing. I've tried to walk and walk, but there is no place you can walk to. It is not an open world game(open world doesn't keep you in one area) supposedly you have a map or compass, a flashlight, You don't. Oh and no story either, no reason your there, and no place to go. I did find one trail(that you can't bypass because this isn't a open world game) As you reach the end, YOU DIE! Thats it, no rhyme or reason. So please save yourself some money and buy a real game made by an established game maker.
