A fistful of vengeance.

<span class="bold">GUN&trade;</span>, a gun-trotting action/adventure in the wild West, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com.

There is something about the Old West that keeps fascinating us. The dusty towns, the gold rush, the dames of questionable moral fiber, the bullet-ridden saloons, the twitchy duels, the tobacco-chewing villains - they blur the line between history and fantasy in a particularly alluring fashion.
GUN is about breathing in all these things as Colton White and also engaging in bounty-collection missions, poker matches, buffalo hunts, train robberies, horseback shootouts, and just about everything that an open-world adventure has to offer to a daring gunslinger such as yourself. Just remember that sometimes the stealthy, more cunning approach is preferable to direct violence, even against the lowlifes that have wronged you.

Enter the vast, opportunistic land of the Wild West and dish out justice with your <span class="bold">GUN&trade;</span> in hand, DRM-free on GOG.com.

MarkoH01: Greeat idea because it's also indexed in Germany :)
WTF!? There's no blood, no Nazi imagery. Shit, it's a bunch of blocks moving up and down on a screen. :P

NuffCatnip: Thanks!
That's a relief! :)

The current development made me wonder if they'd change that..
Well you can never be entirely certain but maintaining multiple versions of a game - with one being inferior and probably rejected by the target audience - would not be worth the cost it causes...

ElTerprise: Probably not. They're too niche.

I don't want to destroy your hopes here but I am still gonna do it.
They once said: no regional prices - gone
They once said no cenbsoring/blocking - gone
They once said we respect the customer and we are listening to you - gone

It's just a matter of time. Seeing how GOG already implemented such a censored version with the australian Witcher - it's not hard to expect that now, when GOG try to go the safety route regarding laws of different countrys, they will use such mechanisms at least for FSK18 titles. In fact I am pretty sure that they will do so because all alternatives are expensive.

viranimus: Disappointing.

I recall renting it back in the day and circumstances prevented me from getting much time with it.

I am wrapping up GTAV right now and been waiting to play RDR for some time now, and this would have been a decent tide me over. Had there been a launch discount, then yeah, otherwise as with many others, to the wishlist it goes to wait for a big sale to put it at a proper price.

However I have to commend Activision for their commitment to GOG and DRM free by continuing to release additional games to GOG for distribution, but no 10+ year old game merits a 20$ price tag. Should be 10, maybe dependent on quality of game or amount of content 15 at most. If people did not buy V:TM-Bloodlines for that amount (Or Morrowind for Bethesda) then they aren't going to buy Gun which was at best a "Middle A" release at best.

So while Its hard to look past that kind of price tag, I do appreciate Activision at least making it available, Unlike certain other publishers like EA and Square Enix that refuse to add additional games, or open up their back library.

______________________

Anyone else notice out of the biggest Publishers available on GOG, EA, Acti, SE, for some reason they seemingly want to make available mostly if not only the titles of subsidiary houses they acquired instead of their own proprietary titles.
Like SE, we get all the old Eidos games, but why no FF7 or FF8 or any of the proprietary titles when PC versions exist AND were recently added to Steam.
As for 17.69 , ouch, thats a lot of cash for an old title if it would have been like desperados 1, i might buy it cause i paid 19.99 guilders when it released in 2001 that was before we switched to the euro.
But its FPP/3d so its a no go.

I can understand you're upset, with Eidos we get old games but, these had the excellent commandos games (classic where the best imho and the 3d/fpp version was bad) so the Eidos games had some games i liked.
Activison is letter A, so with some luck we reach letter D from Deepsilver

Deepsilver releases new titles, but i want the old ones: yes the secret files and the losthorizon 1 and 2

Why does it seem so much trouble to release these games drm free? they released old games here already
and new ones aswell, so whats keeping them from releasing the secret files? they are available but why wont they arrive ?
Same goes for chronicles of zerzura : created by the devs that created Black Mirror 2 and 3 (i own all 3 games).
If these 6 games could release here at 10 bucks each i be happy to buy all 6:

4 secretfiles and 2 lost horizon

The more point and click (non 3d) the better...
IMO, Gun has got great main story (but too short) and gameplay mechanics. But the side quest' re repeatable and boring as hell. Game is a "little" overpriced also. Personally I prefer amazing Outlaws (finally here!). Anyway, Gun is worth of checked if you don't play it. Now i'm waiting for Call of Juarez series.

Only until 2002.

The reasoning for the additon to the index in 1984 is crazy. Especially their choice of verbs. They use "bespielen" (no translation available; seems like a mixture of playing and mounting) instead of "spielen" for playing.

Edit:
I've never read that verb before, but it gives the impression that they are talking about rape.

"Bei älteren Jugendlichen führt das Bespielen von ‚River Raid’ zu physischer Verkrampfung, Ärger, Aggressivität, Fahrigkeit im Denken, Konzentrationsschwierigkeiten, Kopfschmerzen u.a. "

Playing (or whatever) the game causes physical uptightness, anger, aggressiveness, fidgetiness of mind, concentration problems, head ache and other problems.

NuffCatnip: I thought it would take a while, but seems like they embraced it pretty quick.

I tell ya' from now on every second release will be region locked. :P
avatar
PaterAlf: And now let's wait for the "We have to do it, because of German laws" lie.
Oh they are beyond this at this time. They only ignore our questions. You see: they respect their customers but they don't want to explain themselves to their customers (and of course they don't have an obligation to do so). That means if they even are considering Germans to be real customers. Don't know. At the moment I am a bit desilusioned by GOG.

You can draw a Hakenkreuz with just a 5x5 pixel grid. So it makes sense to only allow Atari 2600 games which use fewer pixels. Fortunately that's most of them. ;)

Atari 2600 games are not save. This one was banned for a very long time (from 1984 - 2002).

If you wind back through the thread, you'll see that's the one we're talking about. :)

Sorry, I misread. I thought TinyE was talking about Gun.
Too expensive for 11 years old game. On a wishlist it goes and I am waiting for a sale.
Glad it made it here, though.

*sigh* Shafted again just because I happen to live in Germany even thought I'm Northern Irish.

Its like that Quake bundle during the sale where only 3 games were available here.
Oh goodie - another of the highly asked-for games has arrived :)
This one has been on my paper wishlist for ages, but it'll have to wait until it's actually reasonably and affordably priced.
