I'll try to be as specific as possible.
I've gone back and forth emailing Gog support, and even they cannot solve this issue.
Basically, I purchased the Skyrim Anniversary Edition Upgrade DLC. I played it and simply decided it wasn't for me. Asked for a refund from Gog and they approved it very quickly. I got my money back within the week. However, when attempting to install the base game, galaxy still thinks I own the DLC, so it adds it apart of special edition which causes the "install failed" issue no matter what. It's been a few months now and galaxy still does this.
As per mentioned, I've contacted Gog support several times and they've attempted a number of solutions on my and their end.
Solution 1: Logged in and out of galaxy, used sync integrations, cleared the Gog Galaxy cache and reinstalled the client.
Solution 2: Used the account and user refresh links.
Solution 3: Cleared cloud backup saves because I thought it was a backend sync-save issue.
Solution 4: Gog support manually refreshed my account from their end.
Solution 5: Used goggalaxyrefreshgamegog(a link, ending in custom numbers associated with my account). This was recommended by Gog support.
Solution 6: Completely reset my PC, so there can't be any leftover files from galaxy.
On another note, the offline backup game installers for the DLC does not appear under Skyrim special edition in my game library.
I thank Gog support for their attempts at solving this, but nothing has worked up until this point. My ticket was closed on my behalf. Posting on this forum is my last hope, otherwise I can only play Skyrim special edition through the offline backup game installers. I'd prefer to earn achievements and track my game time.
If anyone has any new solutions, I'd be really grateful.
