As you probably know, for some time now we get the usual 3-sales weeks, running until the start of the next week (except the midweek one).

This has made me realize that when big sales come around (e.g. winter, summer) they are more anticlimactic, as most games were similarly discounted not so long ago. So, I miss the old feeling when a big GOG sale started. You know, the feeling where you see the big banners and impatiently browse through lots of games.

I was thinking that a simple approach would be more effective, customer and store-wise. Here's my idea.

Daily: A flash sale (up to 24h) of a single title, or bundle of a series. Simple as that. It is also a great way to promote less known games that get kind of lost among other games during sales. Also, the time limit could justify applying historical low discounts.

Weekly: None.

Weekend: The good old themed (or not) weekend sale, running Friday to early Monday.

Monthly: Once a month, run a special Developers' Day event, where games from specific developers are selected for sale. What's special is that only on this day, all purchases go 100% to the developers (kind of what Bandcamp does for artists every once in a while).

Newsletters: The current weekly format is OK (I guess), but I think GOG should expand their pool to all games and genres. What I'm saying is that the games discounted through newsletters are usually RPGs and strategy games. While I agree most people would play these games, there are other people who would like great discounts on other genres. For example, as far as I remember, in the past year or so I got only 2 newsletters that would interest me at all (guess what, they were both for the Myst collection).

Humble-like bundle sale once a week:
- Pay $1 to unlock a few games
- Pay more than the average to unlock a few more
- Pay $10-$20 or more to unlock even more

To tell you the truth, I still can't figure out why GOG hasn't teamed up with Humble Bundle years ago to have its games sold there in this way, just like Steam does.

Cool idea! And, yes, this should be more feasible especially now that they allow direct 3rd party integration for selling games.
Just bring back the Insomnia sale every now and then. Job done.
Use the degeneracy of GOG's userbase against them.
So remember that one thread post I made where I suggested that GOG-Tan needed a furry counterpart and listed off a bunch of furry artists?

Yeah, this one.

Now instead what I would do, since the userbase appears to be Anti-Fur is I'd flip my mindset and think what people really think about, and that's staring at the backside of a well endowed video game protagonist.

Ergo, it would be time for GOG to collaborate with the likes of JayKuma, BetterWithSalt, TrinityFate, Sqoons, Miso Souperstar, SSonic2, Riendonut, inuzu, Carmessi, LivefortheFunk, cutesexyrobutts, amano_cigusa, and other various artists of such caliber for a sale focused on the finest butts in gaming.

...Mostly because I think the culture of GOG is toxic enough that "Twinks of Gaming" wouldn't go over well.
Don't use "exclusive" in emails, these I have set to autodelete.

Don't make me click through to the site to find out the discount not to mention the actual price.

Put all relevant data in the html code of the emails so I don't have to download images. See what I mean? Such informative, much wow.

Panaias: Daily: A flash sale (up to 24h)

Sure, I'll share my ideas: NO. Flash Sales are pretty crap for people, except in the rare condition where what's coming is well known in full detail well in advance so someone who would want it can set a reminder. But people have things come up, they have off days... And the globe is a big place with a whole wide range of time zones. No flash sales. Those they already do in conjunction with the big sales are too much.
I think GOG really needs to push "worse"-selling/"low"-selling games, especially since as the catalog keeps growing it'll be easier and easier to forget about the existence of certain titles. Especially do this for indies. Just call them "hidden gem" sales or something like that.
I should not write awkward stuff publically before sleeping.

Always wanted a "wishlist sale". Something where you could build your own bundle kind of thing. The more games you put on there in dollar value, the steeper the overall discount. Or something along the lines of spend over x dollars, and get a free game from your wishlist. Something like that would never happen I think, but gosh darn it would be cool.

becuase they have very different key system.

First thing to keep in mind - Steam do not get one dime of the sales on Humble or any other third party store selling Steam keys, neither would gOg. So all sales in third part stores are zero income. The cut goes to the store selling the key.

Second thing - publishers are allowed to generate they own steam keys, they are not allowed to generate gOg keys. So how it works for Steam keys is that the publisher generates x amount of keys, then they ae sold via the third parrt store. As gOg do not allow pulishers to generate gOg keys themselves, this can therefore not happen for gOg keys.

Yes, there has been gOg games in bundles before, and yes Humble sell some gOg games, but the keys are then generated by gOg and given by them.

They have had it for years, At least since 2010-2012. gOg keys for Defenders Quest was at some point sold via Humble, for example. Now it is mostly CDP Red games sold there.

There have also been bundles with gOg keys before, and not only from Humble

Same thing can be said about GOG Connect, yet GOG did have it. Furthermore, I am sure Steam are not idiots in allowing these kind of bundles. They did the math and realised that it's worth it in extra accounts and customers.

Last time I read the ten commandments, I don't remember one that stated "GOG shall not allow publishers to generate GOG keys". They can change their policy. Sadly, it doesn't seem to be a GOG principle, otherwise they would have abandoned it by now. Again, I am sure Steam are not idiots in allowing this.

Yes, I know, but I'm not talking about keys but direct redeeming on GOG through 3rd parties. If I remember correctly, that was implemented more recently. I think that's how we got the game Seven for free from humble store a couple of months ago.
