Asimov would be proud…

SOMA, a new take on horror from the creators of Amnesia, is now available for pre-orders with a 10% discount on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com

Frictional Games, the guys behind awesome horror series including Amnesia and Penumbra, are back for another shot of fear. But this time around, they're doing things differently. While at first glance SOMA is still a first person game with focus on exploration and a discomforting atmosphere - the real innovation lies in the creative process, and produces an end result that's so much different than the usual jump-scare fare.
Drawing inspiration from the works of Isaac Asimov, Philip K. Dick and Robert A. Heinlein. SOMA is a sci-fi horror game that relies on a finely crafted setting to ask the hard questions and tackle unique existentialist issues - deal with the idea of free will, subjective experience, and machine-consciousness. In SOMA, you'll experience tension through an unbelievable atmosphere and sound design, and discover the fascinating story through your own actions.

Don't scream, ponder the depths of existence. Pre-order SOMA today, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The gameplay trailer was really awsome. Vivarium though wasn't very understandable.

CDickerson: Really wild teaser videos, this one especially:

I had missed that one, thanks! It's rare that a teaser captures my interest so well.

SirPrimalform: Not going to pre-order, but I've been following this for a while and I'm looking forward to it.
Judging from the cover art I assume that this game is going to feature a "A.I. gone rogue/evil/megalomaniacal/insane" charatcer. Basically their making their own SHODAN.

And funny I just finished the Overlord DLC in Mass Effect 2 that features something similer.

ReynardFox: Can't pre-order after A Machine for Pigs, but it's definitely getting wishlisted.
Totally get why you wouldn`t, but AAMFP wasn`t made by Frictional, only vetoed by them.
Glad to see it confirmed that this is coming to GOG.
Nice setting for a horror game, but a bit expensive, and I'm personally growing tired of Horror games where running away and hiding is basically your only option. I'd prefer a middle-ground where it's up to the player to decide when to fight and when it would be better to run.

Might check it out in the future, once the price goes down a bit.

Also, pre-ordering is for dummies. Hah. There, I've said it.

It looks okay but the generic character voices really get on my nerves. At the very least they could have used voice actors who don't sound like they're in their early twenties...

Pffft... When you say "voice actor", you mean the programmer's brother, right? And that guy who sometimes hangs out with his sister. And that chick who happens to live next door. And maybe, just maybe... the pizza delivery guy. I mean, those 50 bucks were easy money and came in real handy.

Ha ha, exactly!
Haha, mentioning Asimov certainly got me interested :P The setting looks cool, will be observing this game.
Ouch. A tad bit pricier than I expected. Still, it's a game I've been looking forward to ever since it was announced. Now to pre-order or not to pre-order. Hmmm. At least I can think that one over for a little while.

What do you think veto means? :S

Why? Are you likely to run out of copies on release day?
