Alaric.us: Brilliant logic. Let's also eliminate everything that the poorest, weakest, and least intelligent person cannot easily afford/get/find. Because otherwise that guy might feel inadequate or sad or like he is missing out. And that's highly unethical.
richlind33: You sound like you've been convinced that you'll lose something if you're not able to pre-order, which is *exactly* what pre-orders are designed to do; but not to worry, because if the scam was discontinued you would lose absolutely nothing.
If you'd read my posts further up this thread, you'd know that I pretty much never preorder and in fact posted a video where Cartman shares his perspective on them. I am 36 and I preordered 2 games in my life, one of which I did here on GOG less then a day from release. (And was happy with both the game and the bonuses.)
That said, all of it is irrelevant. The real point is, if someone wants to preorder, it's none of our business to deny them that option. Just because it's not for us, doesn't mean it's not for everyone.
I buy new cars. Always. Without exception. Every 3 years or less. There are people out there, who foam at the mouth at the very notion. They tell me how it's stupid, rant about how I'm wasting money, go on and on about depreciation etc. Most of the time they are right in their own way. Buying a new car would be wrong FOR THEM. But not FOR ME.
Different people are in different situations, want different things, like different food, belong to different political parties, listen to different music. Some people happen to be better off buying new cars. Some people are better off preordering games. Getting on a high horse and pontificating about your own Uniquely Correct View™ will not change any of it.
