@mike_cesara the drivers you suggested didn't work.

@WinterSnowfall Installed CPU-Z, here's what appears in the specifications: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E8400 3.00GHz

Sorry for sending you on a wild goose chase. I assumed your CPU had an integrated graphics card, but it's made some time before they started that trend.

mike_cesara is essentially right - your PC/laptop is rather old and there might just not be any updated drivers for it, which of course may mean you won't be able to play some more recent games. Even if they're not that demanding, they just weren't designed with older hardware/drivers in mind.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but not all is lost. You can always open a ticket to GOG support, describe your situation and ask for a refund.

mike_cesara: However, your chip is quite dated and if you are on Windows 10, you may have no luck updating your drivers..
That may be the issue as it appears that the Q45/Q43 chip did not get a Windows 10 driver.

I'm running out the door but I found this link:

Yep, sorry about that..
Would be hard to make old drivers work with latest Windows.
Done. Now I wait?

Desktop? Possible to add a graphics card? I gamed today on a computer with the same processor family but of course I have a graphics card. If you decide to look into a graphcs card, second lowest (RX 560 from AMD or GTX 1050 from Nvidia) or better from the current generation is what I would aim for if gaming. If you have 4GB or more RAM and add a graphcs card you can play quite a lot of older titles on the computer.

Oh, if you also have 32bit OS you really should change that UNLESS you have something that REALLY REALLY must have 32bits and you really need that (normally work or expensive hobby related). 32bit games work in 64bit Windows, just sometimes some old 32bit games came with 16bit installers and 16bit programs are not supported by 64bit Windows.

Install Windows 7 and you'll be able to play your games. Intel has a driver for it:

Yes, the E8400 is a desktop CPU.
Some GTX 1050 cards need a 6 pin power connector - just something to watch out for (if the OP's PSU doesn't have one).
