Oh, and thanks for the generosity, today and before and after, xckx! Sorry that I don't spare the time to say it more often, I just silently add my +1 whenever ;)

You may want to try making a post in this thread here: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_community_in_multiplayer_games

Good luck! :)

Sorry genkicolleen, but -1 for this one. If you want to make a gift to your friend, go and buy something instead of letting someone else pay or do you always go to your friends to buy your presents? Basic customs of real life apply here as well. Again sorry, I had to point this out.

Yeah but if genki (or anyone else) would have given it to thespian or the likes then noone would have said anything yet in ways it's basically the same thing. I consider thespian my friend and let him win Dragon Lore last week because he has issues ever since the login.

Aww :( Well, I do understand your point of view, but I see it a little differently than you do. If someone in a mall is giving away, say, a gift certificate to Outback Steakhouse to the first person to ask for it, I would definitely like to have it, despite being a vegetarian, as I have loved ones who would be thrilled to go out and have dinner. Would I give it to them as a gift? Of course not. I'd tell them up front that someone was giving it away, and that I grabbed it with them in mind.

... So perhaps it's my wording that's the problem. I should have said that I was "giving" it to a friend instead of "gifting"?

This thread is all about kindness, and that's what I was trying to do, myself -- spread the kindness to a friend who couldn't be here, herself.

EDIT: Thank you for your support, lugum :)

Totally agree with this. +1 to xckx for the games and +1 to you genkicolleen for looking out for your friend.

No hard feelings. It's a gray area and your point of view isn't all wrong. I just wanted to throw in my 50 cents to indicate that getting codes for non forum members is a special situation. Everybody has someone to give gifts to, so if everybody would follow your logic, most of the giveaways would find a home outside this community and that wouldn't be so good in my opinion.

Edit: Peeps, don't make a drama out of a little -1. I'll get some for pointing this out as well - they're always coming in as soon as something negative is said. No offense meant, I was only honest.

Don't want to derail this thread any more, but in my eyes he doesn't deserve a -1. He had the decency to ask if it would be ok to take the code for someone else and the gifter decided that he has no problem with it. So no harm done. And others would have taken the code and use it as a gift or for trade without caring what the gifter wants.
She was the first to reply so she gets the game. She can do whatever she wants with the game. I never stated any rules that the game must be for the person replying only. Not only that but she asked up front if she could give it away. If there was a problem with it I wouldn't have given her the code. She could have just said she wanted it and not said anything about giving it to her friend.
