Hello, first time posting here, I recently got Delta force one, delta force 2, Delta force land warrior, Deltaforce task force dagger, delta force extreme, swat 3, swat 4, Line of sight vietnam and Deadly dozen, All from the thrift store, I tried to play Delta force 2 but my computer absolutely crapped itself and I had to restart it, I am afraid to try the other games because I think the same thing will happen, any ideas on how to get these working on a modern machine? windows 7 btw

So you didn't buy them from the store here then, you got old hard copies. If so then you will need to look at each one individually, search online for what is needed for each game to work on your system - think drivers, directx, certain settings, patches etc. And setup game as you. This is why people buy from Gog as they do all the setup to make old games work on new systems.
Tip 1, always install outside windows folders - create c:/games and install there.
First of all, try to play it in Windows XP Service pack 2 compatibility mode.

If that does not work for you, use the dgVoodoo DirectX wrapper software. You must copy the files into the Delta Force 2 folder. Delta Force 2 is a DirectX/DirectDraw game, so use the dgVoodoo2 files from the “MS” sub-folder.
If the game gives some specific error, I would google for the error, possibly also including the name of the game.

Other than that, googling for the name of the game and windows 7 might give you ideas.

Nowadays, quite often the problem might be e.g. the old copy protection the retail game has, that might make the game launch fail, e.g. for some Securom games IIRC. This is due to certain change Microsoft introduced a year ago or so (basically considering many forms of old copy protections as security risks, hence blocking them).

At least in Windows 7 there is some way to circumvent that though, I don't recall the details right now.
