Haters gonna hate. I still like the game concept and think it has a lot of potential, so I'm glad they haven't entirely given up on it. Personally I'd mostly like to see more unique content, such as more sentient alien species, or unique encounters on planets ( rare buildings, characters and special events ). Just some things to break up the repetition and make planetary exploration more exciting. Would also help if the alien species and creatures would interact with you ( and the game world ) in more interesting ways.

Crewdroog: gtfo. i honestly didn't think we'd hear anything ever again.

and hello :)

UHHHH, and what does "foundation" of building mean exactly...? vague to say the least

fishbaits: I was shocked too hehe. I guess the ASA sniffing around perhaps helped nudge things along ;)

My guess, is that it'll be the very basics of base building as it states, which may lead to DLC for differing buildings & the like ;)

P.S. ERMAGERD, Landshark! ;p
ASA is all, and lit a fire under their butts. nice.

funny thing, if they put a good chunk of what they promised, I'd STILL probably get the game.
Only blame goes to the players who keep supporting these crooks. Gamers can't control themselves they need there next digital fix. publisher know this and keep giving more and more Digital drugs. nom nom.... lol
Can someone VERY BRIEFLY summarize what happened with this game? Did it not contain all the features it was supposed to? Did it simply suck? Was it not released on time? Was it released severely broken?

All I've known for the last few months is that NMS is a huge disgrace, but I don't care enough to read long diatribes about why it bombed.

Depends on who you ask. Lots of hyperbole from all directions. Promises broken by the devs, or maybe just people having unrealistic expectations ( and the devs & Sony are probably in part to blame for those ).

Anyhow, the truth lies somewhere in between, as is so often the case. I find the game is actually perfectly enjoyable, as long as you go into it knowing what to expect -- and what not. I do however think it's not quite a full price game ( ~60 buckaroos ) in its current form. The current discounted price is more like it, especially if they keep providing more free updates and improvements in the foreseeable future.

For anyone interested in No Man's Sky, I recommend to watch an hour or two of gameplay videos first, to get an idea what the game is all about.

How's this for "VERY BRIEFLY"? :)

"Did it not contain all the features it was supposed to?" No, it did not.

"Did it simply suck?" No.

"Was it not released on time?" It did take a very long time to make, but that wasn't its biggest problem.

"Was it released severely broken?" On the PS4: No. On the PC: Yes.

The biggest problem is the absence of features that were touted, some of which were even on the game's Steam page! That would be like a retail game listing features on the back of the box that aren't in the actual game!

Few too many lies & missing content amongst other things. Plus, you can beat the game by deleting your save file lol.

Sean claiming you could run into other players, but unlikely. Turns out, it's impossible.
Saying you can land on asteroids. Technically, you can, but only because someone made a mod to let you do so & even then, not with your ship.
Planetary physics. Not in the game at all.
& so on.

MikeB quote covered the game: "There's a quintillion different ways, you can do five fucking things".

Welp, it's patched on PS4 already. Redditor has listed the changes & there's an heavily scripted youtube clip of it too.

Looks like HG got away with it.

I guess because the lies were said in interviews & not shown on games store page...

I find that pretty disgusting too. It sets a very dangerous precedent for what game studios can get away with. The future looks bleak for gamers - especially since our "dear" game journos often don't do their job when reviewing a game.
This game became a real dissapoint. I was so excited waiting for playing it.

It is sad, looks like companies can do anything....

This refers to the fact that the bulk of the patch is simply laying the foundation for all of the content they are planning to add to the game in the near future. In addition to setting up the new framework, they have also added base building, new materials and biomes, and the ability to purchase and manage a freighter (including hiring a crew).

ah, thank you for the clarification :)
I'm still on the fence. think it might have to be lower than the current 35USD OR become amaz-balls.

hi! :)
Hello Games finally breaks a 3 month long silence, not to answer for their shenanigans or give an explaination for what happened, but to push their first major DLC pack. The community wants answers and they're giving them a sales pitch. It's a good thing it's a free update, because charging for content that literally should have been in the game from day one would kill what tiny amount of credibility they have left.
