Have you ever had the misfortune of entering or seeing a community enter a dark age where the administrators and moderators have abandoned a place?

Rather than simply gracefully close a place down or winding it into the annals of history via archives, they simply vanished one day, leaving the place with only but the grace of it's users to fend for itself.

What was your role in such anarchy? Did you encourage the madness, stirring things up? Did you call to the winds, praying that the light would return? Or did you simply leave under the cloak of night, never to return?
Someone pissed in your cereal or something?
I guess it's (...)

edit: Apparently, I guessed wrong. Sorry for that.

what are you talking about?
It's not really a 'cloak of night' if you're announcing that you're doing it.
Watching warily from afar.

Well, I'm not leaving yet, but I've certainly taken sabbaticals before.
Are you part of the community or part of the problem?

Quizá ambas cosas.
Used to be a regular on the GameSpot forums over a decade ago. Then they overhauled them, removed a bunch of features, and I never looked back again. Having had a look at them as of today, yeah, that place is pretty dead. Not dead enough to have no users, but Off-Topic was pretty dang busy back then. Now you can see weeks old threads on the first page, not having any posts in 20 days.

Why, is the General Discussion here too boring and bothersome for you? I personally slowed down and stopped making threads because this place is weirdly cultish.

I have no idea what you're referring to in particular, but yes. As you grow older, you see many things (and places/communities) rise and fall. It's a normal part of life, nothing lasts forever, not even empires or stars.
There's a certain popular RPG forum I used to post on all the time, but after Trump that forum went so MAGA it was insufferable and I had to leave.
