Maybe some disgruntled ex or current employee? Or activists? If you know developments please post here.
Apparently a swat call... Likely an angry gamer?
I really, really, REALLY hope swatting devs and publishers doesnt become a thing.

And whoever made the false call faces the consequences.

Good that nothing happened, but I hope this doens't become a new thing.

Read about it on a gaming news site I frequently visited.
The comment section was full of 'too bad, it was a hoax' and 'I don't like Ubisoft and their practices, I hope all their employees die' comments...which is simply abashing...disgraceful bottom of the barrel scum...I'm done with that site.

I myself said things I immediately regret and/or would like to take back, but that behaviour is nuts.

Of course, whatever problem and criticism one might have towards Ubisoft, endangering the life of the people working there is sick. Too often cops are easy on the trigger.

Nice comment, I hadn't seen this in the light of SWAT calls on gamers...what an absurd thing to do. I totally agree that there should be consequences. What's the problem of someone who hopes for employees to die?!
But I'm sure that THE Angry Gamer is innocent. He's good-angry.

We'd seen an angry user burn down an animation studio for 'ruining his anime' before.

I think the tension is just too high right now in the world. Too many people angry for the wrong reasons. It doesn't help with companies cave to either unrealistic twitter mob demands, or pushing more unfavorable DRM & monetization practices, ruining entertainment every way they can.

that is quite interesting you know, what does it make them sway to incorporate some absurd decision. It is just someone who, in the heat of the moment says something stupid like, at least the justice knights will keep of our lawn if we do it like this?

Is the one responsible just some minor.. you know some almighty programmer who still has his virginity at the age of 30 without any other reason then, i just don't feel that secure around women?

Most of the time these silly looking decisions are part of a compromise ....

anyways, on topic... it is a bit what you can expect from ubisoft. That hacking tool for example or all of those movies. it is quite nice actually. It makes them look like a company that cares, 2 bad their games don't reflect that same sentiment

Why should they when staff at companies like this and their PR people have been abusive themselves and encouraged this bad behaviour? It is like the news stories that came out before the Joker movie was released that could have incited a shooting or police overreaction.

I disagree, there are so many better ways to show your unhappiness with a companies policy, a key one is first and foremost stop buying their games, which is what I did when UBI introduced Uplay, I also have a no-buy policy from EA for similar reasons, and have kept that going for years.

Calling in SWAT isnt going to accomplish anything, well nothing good at least.

No. Victims of bullying isn't aren't to blame for the actions of a bully for "giving the bully a reason". And victims of disgusting gamer trash SWATting aren't to blame for it no matter what they do or do not do. Like are you serious?

SWATing is a NO.
Always should be.

Stirring up a shooting for some cheap publicity isn't the the same as being upset about uplay or because a game characters clothes in a game are the wrong colour.

How do you know this isn't the action of employees in an abusive work atmosphere or another false threat being used by your type of people to smear others that got taken too seriously. We've already had one known suicide from that sort of behaviour.

p.s and blame the police for their over reaction.

True. You have a valid point, but that is assuming that Ubisoft or someone at Ubisoft is actually responsible as you postulated below.

I have not seen any evidence that this could be the case. Though I have heard rumors that working for UbiMontreal is not exactly the best, and that crunch is fairly common, so there could be a chance.
