I bought Witcher 3 and I played until I decide to let the GOG Galaxy to update my Witcher 3 .... TWO DAYS downloading the update and then ... "INSTALLATION FAILED: DISK ACCESS PROBLEM" .. and guess what... Witcher is now unplayable.

I've tried everything I read on that forum. From disabling antivirus to run as admin the gog app.. everything.

I just Uninstalled the game. You people, you are just destroying the games with your gog app.
I just lost 50 euros for a game I cannot play because of your app. (yes I am not losing one more day for installing the game again).

Great work ...

You do know you don't have to use Galaxy, right? Just don't use it, and voila- 50 euro un-wasted.

Your "worst experience ever"?

Really? :P

You've never had your heart broken?
Kicked in the nuts?
Got a speeding ticket?
Lost a loved one?
Had root canal?
Been fired?
Never had food poisoning? The flu?
Never broken any bones, needed stitches?
You never suffered any ill health whatsoever?
You've never flunked a test you studied really hard for?
Never been stood up?
You've never known failure?

Evidently not.
THIS is your worst experience ever. :P

I stand in awe. :D

That may or may not be GOG's fault. Based on the info quoted above, you might have a hardware failure on your HDD or SSD. I'm not saying that you do. I'm just saying it's possible. And if that is the case, then it's your failing hardware's fault, not GOG's.

No you didn't. Contact GOG tech support about this issue. If they can't get the game working, and if they can eliminate hardware failure as the cause, and if after all of that they refuse to give you a refund, then you can say you lost your money. Until then, to claim you lost your money is just being hyperbolic.

Breja : I didn't know that until I get the error and search about it. :/

The first time I've installed the game , I got the message about the gog app ( yes my first game on GOG and last of course) and I though that it was necessary like the games I have that require steam account or origin etc.

Breja . If I download the "CLASSIC GAME INSTALLERS" do I need the GOG app ?

Thankfully, no. Just download, run the installer, and you get a proper, DRM-free no client or internet connection required game.

Sadly, GOG does a terrible job at letting people know about those classic installers, and they do so intentionally.

EDIT: And apparently I'm getting downvoted for letting someone know Galaxy is optional :P Is that you, GOG PR department?

I am sure my SSD if fine (and new , I've got that SSD for less than 4 months now , Samsung EVO ).

I will try downloading the classic installer and try to update the game just to see if it works (without that gog app).
I will do it just to see if it was that GOG app faults all that time I've lost. Just out of curiosity.

I've never had problems with Ubisoft launcher , or Origin or Steam.

The only things you need Galaxy for are automatic updates, play time tracking, achievements, and if you prefer a Steam-like one-click install. And multiplayer for some games.

The alternative is doing things manually, you know like before such clients and high-speed internet became the norm. Download the files, run the installer, click through to accept or change the settings, run the game from the start menu or desktop to play it, go to the website and look for patches on your own.

FYI you could have just tried to verify/repair the install before deleting it in an immature rage. It might not even be GOG's fault, so having a rant like this is just silly.

And cloud saves. I love cloud saves. I'm now a galaxy user because of it.

OP: GOG isn't quite as smooth as steam. But they have things steam does not. You can back up your games, install on multiple computers in your home (my brother and I try to get our whole family into a massive empire earth game every year or two) and galaxy has some neat options.

As for your error, I strongly recommend contacting GOG support. They may be able to give some insight. Galaxy has its issues, but I'm not sure your issue is typical.

XD Thank you for having a sense of humor about that.

Seriously, Sorry about the shit you are going through but don't abandoned GOG.....yet.
The regs here will bend over backwards to get everything up and running for you. :D

I won't. Not any more. My back has been irreparably broken because of that.

EDIT: That back-breaking arch was not my worst experience ever, though. It was the time Baldur's Gate crashed and I lost 2 minutes of game time.

Recently, it actually is pretty typical to have installs/updates fail in Galaxy with that "Disk Access Problem" error.

I've had that error message with at least three game updates (even one clean installation) in the last two weeks, which required downloading them all over again.

I remember seeing a blue acknowledge that they are working on it, but I can't remember which thread it was in.
